Can't trade anything, AW. But yes a new map will show it is gone. I just do not know how it could show up in the first place. The founding should have popped it. I should never see a hut in a town border?

The thing I was saying is it is common to see a hut in plain sight and near the AI for a long time. I have gone in and pop them, just outside of their town.

Yes, I see a lot of those as well. I pop them because the AI has to deal with the barbs-if any.

The "ghost hut" phenomena. The hut was there the last time your ship went past, so it remains that way even though a town was built there, which pops that hut. Towns being built are free updates, but huts popped aren't in the free updates. I sometimes see barb camps when I buy a map and later they disappear, so I guess it's an in-game artefact that some things update and some don't.

The reason that happens is because the game will not wipe "used" goody huts from the map as long as they haven't been seen by your troops. It only shows the city borders over the goody huts if you haven't explored that area or gotten a map since the city was built/expanded.

I always figured that there's an assumption that you "update" your map as you go along and it stays that way until you re-visit a given area.

So goody huts, liquid hot magma, pollution, improvements - all unchanged until you visit that area and re-update the map.

I started paying attention to this when I'd look at a coastal town that I sailed by at one time previously with an AI city on it and wondered why they never roaded or improved that cow right next to it when the city has a large pop.

They did, I just had to sail over there again to re-up the map.

Heh, look at that one Portuguese square all the way behind Spain.

That is a good one! and is that another Civ past Madrid?

I had a square in the middle of the ocean squares between continents in one game I played. it was way past weird.

Ive seen that, too.

Maybe its because you didn't get a world map from them, And its just like the goody hut picture that we saw.

It also applies to infracture (Roads, Irrigation, Mines)

No, it's just that Lisbon has enough culture to grab that tile, and no other civ does. Look at these pics I posted earlier in the thread:

I have a question unrelated to your post...

what is the unit that is just south of Ghent and northeast of Liverpool? I have seen that unit in other pics but I don't recognize it from any I have seen in Vanilla.

Yes, it's France over there.

Actually, what had happened was that Madrid got conquered by the Dutch, so when it's culture radius got smaller, Portugal got that one square at the other side.

That one square between Ghent and Dorestad is the weirdest ever!

That's a Slave Worker. (a captured one).

Here we see that the AI does build forts sometimes. Usually on spots where it wants to place a colony:

(Note the Egyptian Worker in red circle).

No, any captured workers have that look, not only the enslaved ones.

Ok, thanks. if I ever get my game upgrade I will be looking for those guys... assuming that I can get some.

@darski: They aren't hard to get, just declare war on a wimpy neighbor.

@Lone Wolf: You sure he isn't mining it?

@Zefyrinus: I know. I should control this square due to it being surrounded by my culture on all sides, but Aix-La-Chapelle has enough culture to claim it.

@Lone Wolf: You sure he isn't mining it?

Quite sure. Look the Worker's actions more closely, that is surely not mining, that's exactly fortressing. Besides, I've never seen an AI building mines outside of its borders, too.

Those would be the Burgundians.
