Interesting Screenshots

He's giving you 37 for peace... and 1073 GPT for 1072 GPT.

:goodjob:

No, he's giving me 36gpt for a bunch of Industrial techs.
And 1gpt for a couple more.
Then I gave him 1072gpt+2900g for Rocketry.
Then I sold him Computers, Fission, and Ecology for a total of 2900g+1073gpt back to me.

The X-man is paying me a bunch for peace, a war that I used almost exclusively for leader-fishing, though it did net me the island retreat that the Byzantines recently relocated their capital to.

Probably for Rocketry or Ecology in a gifting up round, note the varying era leaderheads, especially Smoke and Hiawatha, one is AA and one is MA.

What I still haven't been able to figure out is how Smoke and Hiawatha replaced Kaiser Bill and Cathy in my game settings. Probably another Conquests bug.

Single-handedly keeping the thread alive with yet another ill-advised DoW....

Really, Hiawatha?

Spoiler Hiawatha isn't that dumb is he? :

Spoiler Of course he is. :

You've got to admire his gumption though. That's one brave (albeit dead) MW. And who said the AI couldn't land an effective amphibious assault?

I'm pretty sure eldar's Sumerians will support that opinion. :D

boo, hiss pun

Great line on your AA landing ?.

eldar, did you have any gpt arrangements with Hiawatha in that game? I've noticed that the AI is more likely to attack anytime they owe you more gpt than they can afford. Even if it's suicidal.

So I shouldn't be wringing every last gpt from the AI that I can get on a tech for gpt deal?

Nope, he was of no interest to me once I entered the Middle Ages - not Scientific (so not worth boosting for free techs) and too far away to invade.

Here is my contribution to the survival of this thread -

I am playing a huge pan map as China on Monarch. Game is just for fun and I am trying a 20K win for the first time just to get a feel for the challenges. 16 enemies.

Although I dialed up a pan map, by the time we had all met, there were only 12 civs around the table. Eventually we found the Aztecs, Vikings and Japan sharing a small island. I felt bad for them, needless to say. We were tearing through the MA while they were dwelling in the AA. 12+3=15. Still one missing. Well, I had my hands full destroying Arabia and then Russia. Korea, Egypt and America all declared on me so I decided to fight a neverending war against them while I staged the death of Carthage (I still haven't killed them).

Then, in 1320 AD we finally found Spain!

Check out the nice fur bikini. Unfortunately, in the 5320 years of peace, Spain decided it didn't need to know no stinking Masonry.

Nice island. At least she has a river. I guess that is why they figured there was no need to research aquaducts . . .

That looks pretty good compared to the game that was in an SG thread. The islands were about the same, but nearly half was tundra and no river.

Why did they irrigate that tile NE NE N of Santiago...?
I could cram 10 cities on that island.
I'd sell them something.

I'm guessing they had to do it to get the irrigation to the plains. Once that was accomplished, since the tile is unused, they just left it. With no road.

At this point I don't think I'd be selling them anything. With 0gp, no luxuries and salt they can't even see (and I don't need), only 1 source of iron, and a WM that Carthage already sold me 1 round ago, I think any trade would be a 'gift' at best. More like charity. I could gift them right into the Industiral Age and watch them die of shock . . .

Who needs Aqueducts when you have spearmen? :spear: SPAIN WILL RULE THE WORLD!

Believe me, my invasion will proceed with the utmost caution. And we will leave our ration of bacon at home just in case Theov is amongst the defenders.

Out of curiosity, how many units do they have in their capital? They've had plenty of time to build a ton of units, and massive unit support could be the reason for their lacking a first-tier technology. Of course, it might just be sheer stupidity as well.
