Welcome back, civvers!
To celebrate the return of Sisiutil, I have decided to answer with an update of my own!

So sit back, grab the popcorn, and enjoy the shoe!
(I meant show, by the way.

)
Last time, the British and French began to colonize North America with a vengeance, the Khmer expanded into Indonesia (and unsuccessfully tried to play me for a fool) and the Russians founded several new cities on their northern coastlines. Now for the show to begin!
We start on turn 276, where Tokyo has spawned the Great Scientist Aristotle.

I choose to have him create an academy in Tokyo (already have one in Kyoto).
As for territorial expansion, the Mali have founded the town of Wadan at the northern edge of the African jungles:
On the foreign front, we start off with a look at a report from our foreign advisor:
As you can see, the world's pretty peaceful, now that the initial round of European colonization has run its course. Other than sporadic Mongol attacks towards Beijing, the only war at the moment is the one between the Persians and Arabs, which is now going nowhere because the Turks are standing in between them.
Turn 277: Uh oh...
Might want to wait to go to your town, GreekAnalyzer. Better wait for the Brits to get this town back. Don't want the natives killing you!
Turn 278: News coming out of Europe. France, until now, has been a vassal of the German Holy Roman Empire. But according to my latest info, the French have thrown out their German masters and France is no longer a puppet state. Much rejoicing has broken out in Paris.
Turn 279: The Portuguese have officially entered the colonization game, founding the colony of Belem on the Brazilian coastline:
Turn 280: Awww...
Yes, let's completely ignore the civ with the highest score for the first congress.
Anyway, since I didn't have any sort of say in this, I'll just tell you what cities flipped.
First off, the Romans royally screwed over the Arabs, taking the Jewish (and Christian) holy city of Jerusalem from them right under their noses!
Next, the Dutch extended their colonization efforts by taking the Khmer port city of Singapura:
Third, the Turks diplomatically took control of Aksum, bringing Ethiopia under their control:
Poor Ethiopia. If Zara Yaqob was around, their UP would have prevented this from happening. As it is, Ethiopia is now destined to spend some time under Turkish rule.
Fourth, the Portuguese further split apart the Khmer by taking control of Yangon (in Burma):
Poor Suryavarman. He lost a third of his empire to this congress.
Finally, the French pulled off a sort of diplomatic coup by taking control of British founded, native held Savannah:
Hope you speak French, GreekAnalyzer!
That's it for the Congress, but don't think that means the turn is over! Nope, it's been a
busy turn. First off, the Russians found yet another northern coastal city, this time being Gornjacki:
But we're still not done! As guess what's going on in the Middle East:
Wonder why Chogha Zanbil now belongs to the Turks? Well...
The pile-on has officially begun! The Ottomans have declared war on the Persians, and have brought their Mali and Mayan vassals into the fray as well. The cold war in the Middle East has gotten hot yet again!
And with this action packed turn, I'll end the update. Next time, we'll see the outcome of the (hopefully bloody

) war between the Persians and the Ottoman-Arab-Mali-Mayan alliance. Until next time, stay tuned!
