Welcome back, civvers!

When we last met, the next plague ravages the Arab and Roman empires, the Ottoman Empire struck deep into the heart of the Persian Empire, and the Inca agree to become vassals of the Japanese Shogunate. Now on to today's update!

We start off on turn 285 with happenings in Japan. In the last update, we refused a demand of a large amount of gold (over 1000) made by the Mongols. The incident failed to result in war, but I have decided to move all but one unit from each city on the Japanese mainland to protect Keijo and Qingdao, in preparation for war:

With Japan being the only remaining nation near the Mongols, I want to be prepared in case the Mongols invade. Every soldier in the above picture is going to Qingdao except for the Samurai, as Keijo is already well defended. Those men will be upgraded to riflemen when they arrive.

Meanwhile, the Arabs seem to want to take control of the Persian capitol:

Turn 286: And it finally ends for Persia:

In the short time that it has been around, the Ottomans have wiped out two of the three ancient Middle East's civilizations, the Babylonians and now the Persians (the Egyptians were destroyed by barbs, but even Egypt in its entirety is now under Ottoman control). The Turks have proven to be the greatest threat to the world since the barbs were at their height. :scared:

Meanwhile, the Portuguese continue their colonization of Brazil, founding Rio de Janeiro:

Turn 287: The French have settled their third (and acquired their fourth) colony in North America, founding Nouvelle Orleans:

Due to good fortune for France, the French now have a larger presence in North America than the British do, ironically enough.

The rest of Europe, however, is having far worse luck. :( The plague continues to ravage Europe, although it seems to have bypassed France completely. :dunno: Instead, it is currently killing millions in England, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and Scandinavia, although the plague seems to have run its course in Rome.

Turn 287: I use a Great Artist to culture bomb Qingdao, which was on the verge of starving due to other formerly Chinese cities outperforming it culturally. The results:

The farm and town to the south were added, as were a couple of coastal tiles. Qingdao has been saved from starvation! :D

Something funny I saw in the aftermath of the Persian's collapse:

Nice windmill! Now, who owns it again?

Turn 288: We meet Saladin of the Arabs for the first time:

I've seen your empire, Saladin, my man. Yep, it's really glorious.

Meanwhile, we also meet Catherine of Russia:

Other than this, we have nothing to show in this turn. Therefore, I will end this update with a look at our foreign adviser screen (we can't let our emissaries think that their job's a vacation, now can we? :p)

As you can see, we are... at peace? Yes sir, as of this moment, with the demise of Persia, we have achieved the idealistic world peace! (well, almost... Mongolia is still trying to take Beijing, but continues to have problems. Namely, problems relating to constantly forgetting to attack with something more than just cannons.) The fall of Persia has also cemented Turkic dominance over the Middle East, with the only other civilization still alive in the area (the Arabs) being close allies of the Ottomans, though notably not vassals. As for the giant Ottoman army, it is currently holed up in capital Sogut. While this might just be for safekeeping, so to speak, there is no denying that the Romans are right across the Bosporus...

And on that note, this update will end. Next time, we'll see how long the "great peace" can last, as the Japanese continue to prepare for a (hopefully non-existant) war with Mongolia, and maybe, just maybe, prepare for the arrival of RFC's last civilization, the Americans. Good night, and as always, stay tuned!

Will the Mongols try to invade your shoegonate, or will the Turks shoe the Romans out of Constantinople?

>_> I expect more of you random. :nono::thumbsdown:

Really? One, I can be very random sometimes, and two, I am well known for my crappy amazing puns. Shoely you would know?

OK, I will stop with the shoe puns.
