Please, everybody STOP with the shoe puns! They are getting annoying and childish!

They were in the first place. It's just that now it's the time to put away childish things.

Welcome back, civvers!

Last time we were here, the relentless Ottoman assault (supported by the Arabs) resulted in the collapse of Persia, tensions increase between the Mongols and Japanese, and the French get a run of good luck, supplanting the British as North America's major colonial power and (so far) avoiding a devastating plague. Now onto the show! (You see, I got it right this time )

We start out on Turn 290, where I get yet another Great Scientist! :woohoo: I choose to bulb Chemistry; none of the other options were available (Golden Age) or appealing enough:

Meanwhile, we have WAR! The Holy Roman Empire has invaded its Slavic counterpart in Russia, and a major campaign has taken place near Russian Tiraspol:

Meanwhile, the Russians are planning a counter-campaign near German Wilna. We're starting off this update with a bang! In other news, trouble is on the horizon for Japan. No, not the Mongols - the plague has reached Southeast Asia, and I have an OB agreement with the Khmer. Japan may be getting a taste of the plague for the first time, folks...

Turn 291: Oh, boy... :yuck:

Well, my prediction was right. The plague isn't in Japan itself just yet (it's in Qingdao and Keijo), but it mostly likely will be by next turn. The plague has seemed to achieve a second wind, of a sort. The plague has run it's course in Europe and Africa, but has found new life in Asia. Not including Korea and Qingdao, the plague is in most of China, most of India, the city of Parsa, and all of Southeast Asia (except the European held parts - go figure ). Unfortunately, the plague has not touched the Mongols. In fact, the Mongols still expand, having just founded their northernmost settlement, Naminga:

Meanwhile, the first of (I assume) many battles has erupted between the Germans and Russians near Wilno. This battle ended in a Russian victory, but look how many German soldiers are in Wilno:
tuu7.png

 I said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm really glad I'm playing as Japan. To put it into perspective, there are the following units in Wilno: 2 cuirassiers (I apologize if I misspelled that), 5 cannons, 2 musketmen, 6 horse archers, and a longbowman. That's 16 units - in Wilno alone. That's not counting the five units outside Russian Tiraspol, the three units in Helsinki, the four units in the Baltics, or the fifteen units in modern-day Germany. The Russians have a large army, too, but since they have many more cities, and the AI has to defend all of them, Tiraspol and Moskva are the only well defended cities in Russia.

Turn 292: Yay!

However, all is not well. The plague has taken Japan by storm, as seen here:

It could not have come at a worse time, either. I stripped my garrisons in Japan proper so that Qingdao and Keijo would be well defended against possible Mongol aggression. Now that the plague is here, it has left every city in Japan defenseless except Sapporo (which has not been infected yet).

Meanwhile, the Mongols have finally done it - they have conquered the city of Beijing:

Unless they decide to continue attacking China, what else is there left for them to attack, except *shudder* plague ridden Japan?

Turn 293: The plague spreads to my last cities, Sapporo and Filipino Davao. Meanwhile, the Russians beat back the German attack on Tiraspol, causing the Germans to retreat:

As for the Americas, I simply feel sorry for the Aztecs:

One city, two combat units, forced vassals of the Portuguese, and constantly under attack from dog soldiers. They're so weak that they can't even afford a guard for their one settler - even though a barb is heading right for it. :( On the demographics page, they are dead last in almost everything, and second to last in land area - only the Maya rank lower, due to their land having much more water.

Turn 294:

Meanwhile...

Based on what I said above, it was obvious this was going to happen, but here's the final pit stop for Montezuma. What I find interesting is that they managed to found Teotihuacan, but collapsed immediately after.

As for Parsa, the Arabs have finally managed to capture the capital city of their nemesis, years after the Persians collapsed:

And on that somber note, I shall bid you farewell for now. Quite a dark update for only one war, huh? Next time, we'll see the plague finally leave, watch the outcome of the Russo-German war, and see if we can get to the American spawn. Until next time, stay tuned!

Shoet! No shoe jokes!

I'm surprised the Arabs have not died yet.
