Interesting Times - The AI Side of RFC

America will take Turkey, and put nukes there ;)

I have no idea

:hide:

Seriously, any ideas that might have a chance of happening? :p

You, getting there with infantry, and killing the crap out of everyone :D

Believe it or not, I have no plans to take on the Middle East. No intervention in the outside world, remember? The whole deal with China was sort of an accident.

Besides, my army is too small to try that and still try defending from the Mongols in case they get any bright ideas. Winning takes precedence over wanton conquest. :p

Awww wonton conquests are the best kind of conquests :p

Welcome back, civvers!

Last time, we saw a few insignificant events in North America and Russia, but also had a huge development - the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and its fragmentation into over a dozen new states. What will happen next, now that the world's strongest country is gone and the countdown towards Japanese victory enters its final stretch? Read on to find out!

We start of on the same turn as the Ottoman's collapse (turn 334) as there was one thing I missed last time (I was too preoccupied with the Ottoman collapse). What was it? Well...

gCK59bJ.jpg

Is that a Khmer Congo?  Since when do the Khmer colonize Africa!?

Well, then. With that oddity out of the way, let's move on to Turn 335 (Year 1832) as the Imperial Palace gets a visit from the Malinese...

i2O53kZ.jpg

For a minute I consider it, until I see the pop-up notice that says "War With Spain" and immediately tell him to get out. No war, please!
Moving away from Africa, we go to North America, where the English have settled Edmonton in Canada:

lA7roSj.jpg

As if to outdo the oddity of a Khmer Congo, look at the ethnic status of American-founded, Native-held Sioux Falls:

Ck5oiau.jpg

 Well, that's an interesting side effect of the American's UP! Despite it being in North America, over half of the people there are Greek! There are almost twice as many Greeks as Americans, and almost six times as many Greeks as Native Americans!

So we move on to Turn 336 (Year 1835 - only 15 years left!) and we get a visit from our Incan vassal. He requested a small resource trade, but what I found interesting was our relationship score:

ghWBkrP.jpg

Some quick math reads a relationship of +20. :D That is one pleasant nation to deal with.

We also get a visit from Carthage (Russia's vassal), who wants the following:

M4pAyiv.jpg

NO.

And so we move back to North America, where we get another update on the Sioux Falls saga:

YIyOjOy.jpg

And so the Sioux finally are forced out of the city that takes its name from them. (There is still a Greek majority, by the way :p).

And now to the Middle East, where we anxiously await the fate of those states that rose from the ashes of the Ottoman Empire. Unfortunately, there was minimal divvying up here, with only Jerusalem (or Al-Quds) falling to the Arabs:

3VXL6Xk.jpg

So much for a resurgent Israel...

And that is it for this update! Kind of short, I know, but I wanted to save the final countdown to victory for its own update. After that, for Part 50, I will do a summary of the world and it's current state to bring an official end to Interesting Times. I am considering doing scattered post-victory updates as well (I want to see how the ex-Ottoman lands get divided), but part 50 will be the official end to the story. And so, for now, so long, and stay tuned!

Finish teh story!

Comment some! :p

But seriously, I've come up with some problems due to schoolwork. I'll be finishing it during Thanksgiving break next week. Sorry!

Welcome back, civvers!

And so, we reach the end, over 2500 years of following the progress of this wacky world. And now, we begin the final decade before Japan has its long-awaited victory. What madness awaits us in this final decade of the game? Read on to find out!

We start on Turn 338 (Year 1841), as I receive two diplomatic visits. The first is from... the Mongols... :scared:

iF1Us9R.jpg

Wait, they want my help in a war? Umm... :dubious:

Sorry, but no.

Next up, in 1844 (Turn 339) we get a visit from Lincoln, leader of the Thirteen Colonies :p, and he wants:

TmihyX4.jpg

You're trading a tech you don't want to trade yet? :crazyeye: Fine, take your biology and go!

As for the Siberian War, here's the current situation:

grSgpHR.jpg

Not much in the way of fighting, but the war seems to be preventing both sides from settling a city they want somewhere in here.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese have added to their Brazilian empire by settling Macapa in northern Brazil:

RMQDB4o.jpg

We now move to 1846, and get a visit from Suryavarman of the Khmer:

JYqxsR0.jpg

Have you seen how many religions are in my empire? Converting would not be good for stability...

As for the rest of the world, guess what's making one final reappearance?

de6zXpZ.jpg

Welcome back, Plague! :vomit: (Now you get the title, don't you?)

And the plague isn't the only bad thing happening to the world here. The Carthaginians, the world's oldest continually-surviving civilization (with Japan in second :)) are close to collapse, as shown here:

jAVDs3o.jpg

Having lost Ceuta to the newly independent state of Morocco, can the oldest surviving civilization last to the end? We'll see, won't we?

On to Turn 341 (1848), and we get a visit from the Russians...

gS5nJ1A.jpg

My generosity ran out with the deal with Lincoln last turn. You're a little late, Stalin!

We now look at an update in the Middle East, as the Arabs finally take the city they have been longing for for so long, the capital of Babylonia and (temporarily) the Ottoman Empire, Babylon, now known as Babil:

0vVKIo9.jpg

Meanwhile, the Arabs aren't the only ones doing some conquering:

n6F0OT0.jpg

 Guess Austria is tired of being Europe's punching bag. They've taken advantage of the plague to take Berlin from the Dutch! If they can take Hamburg, too, then we'll see an independent Grossdeutschland! :D

Another update on the Siberian War, the Mongols have finally decided to settle a new city, Kazan:

4ZWVbN0.jpg

And so now we move on to the end, Turn 342, Year 1850. And how do we finish it off? Seeing the fulfillment of the greatest colonial empire in the world come to it's completion, as the Portuguese finally complete the conquest of Aztec Mexico:

gHgpQv7.jpg

But did you really think I'd just end it with that? Nope, I've got one last pic. Here is the current status of the victorious Empire of Japan (minus the Philippines):

7kOTXaI.jpg

One last click of the enter key...

fSL0FPf.jpg

And it's over! :D :goodjob: :woohoo::dance: I made it, it's over, and Japan is on top of the world!

And so, we finally reach the end. Over a year (or 2500), of wackyness, stupidity, and multiple stops and restarts later, I take my bow on behalf of Japan. For Part 50, I'll have one final recap update to show the state of the world in 1850 (technically 1852), and then it's over, and time to move on to one of the other two stories that haven't really gotten off the ground yet. And so, this is CFCoasters, on behalf of CFC, signing off. As always, stay tuned!

Nice! Good job! :D

Thanks! After I finish this up with the next update, which story should I continue next? I have a second Interesting Times ("Minoan" Greek OCC,) and an unrelated narrative-style story.

Hello again and welcome back, civvers!

Well, it's over! I've won, and it is now time for the last update, as promised. For the end, I'll be showing a few pics of the end-game stats, then the final update it's time for one last tour around the world. I would have only one update instead of splitting it up into two, but the tour is very long (over 20 pictures), and I don't want nearly 30 pictures in a single update. So let's get on with the end!

First off, here's the post-game timeline, I'm mostly showing you this so you can see the map of the entire world:

ZRXC2Bj.jpg

Next up are the graphs. First up: the overall score over time.

HHhwmyA.jpg

As you can see, the Turks came very close to matching me in score towards the end, but it was all for naught when they collapsed down the stretch. As a result, I ended up first in score, with England scoring second.

Next up is power:

OCP3HfY.jpg

Here, I was certainly not first (indeed, I was nowhere close). Once again, the Turks were up right at the top up until their collapse; at the end, Russia was the world's most powerful nation, followed closely by the Mongols. I finished a distant fifth; behind them, the English, and even the Portuguese (:().

Third in the graphs was culture:

WSJClqR.jpg

Here, I was on top by a mile, as no one but the Ottomans (that's one powerful UP) came anywhere close, and when the Turks collapsed, only the Dutch were even half as cultured.

Up next is the Demographics Screen:

WEvvHmK.jpg

A brief rundown: A big reason why I'm not higher up in power is plain to see: I'm only eighth in production power, largely due to the fact that Japan is not the most conducive place for big industry (small size). Korea, the Philippines, and the ex-Chinese cities help, but not enough to bring me higher than 8th. However, I am still first in population and food production, second in GNP, and I have the world's fifth largest army. Approval rate and life expectancy are not strong suits, though. :king:

And last for the first part of the final update: a list of the top cities in the world:

LBoBfEX.jpg

Stupid Dutch. I have the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th best cities in the world, but Amsterdam is #1 because they have the Taj Mahal, the Spiral Minaret, and another wonder I don't immediately recognize. And no, I have no pics on the rest of the Wonders in the World. :p

And that's it for the first half of the final update. Up next, we'll finish it by giving one last tour of the world. As always, stay tuned!

It is. Very impressive! I have no idea how the life expectancy works

Well, I'm pissed. I set up the final update, and it took too long, and my update which took a long time to make is gone. [pissed] I was hoping to finish this on Christmas, but it will have to wait.

*Sigh*

As always, stay tuned. Maybe I shouldn't have gone to that Christmas party...
