Interesting Times - The AI Side of RFC

For everyone who enjoys this story:

Sorry I've not been updating. I've been very busy lately, and I have not had the time (or will) to update. However, next week is Spring Break, so I should have plenty of time then to go ahead and get that update out (assuming I take a look at Imgur and figure out how to use it by then...). As always, stay tuned!

Welcome back, civvers!

Last time we met, I was about to make a new update, but my trial at ImageShack ran out () and I was forced to switch to Imgur. Now I'm back, and ready to finish the update!

As I said before, I decided to attack the crossbowman on my border before he could retreat back to Nanchang. Here's the result:

YfQ5kf9.jpg

Now onto the update! We start on turn 322 (year 1793), and we are about to move on Nanchang. Here's the invading army:

LFSyhzJ.jpg

Maybe a little overkill for one longbowman, but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?

Turn 323:

NwUoLD5.jpg

Really, Isabella? What do you take me for, an idiot? I swear, she's almost as bad as Suryavarman.

Back at Nanchang, the "Chinese" have reinforced the city with a catapult. Oh, well. Pelt 'em with cannonballs!

V7lxX7W.jpg

Ah, the sweet smell of burning buildings. Turns out I didn't even need need the cannonballs; I took the city without losing a unit! :D

On to the rest of the world, the Spanish complete their campaign in central & southern Italy by capturing Pompeii:

QKeEfnS.jpg

Unlike the real world, the Spanish are kicking butt in Europe, while completely failing in the New World. Meanwhile, we have.. another city founding! The Americans have founded Grand Junction in the eastern Rocky Mountains:

l3c6mOo.jpg

Denver? What's that? And also, what in the world are the British doing scouting out north of Portuguese Mexico?

Meanwhile, the Mongols continue to besiege Xi'an. It feels good to capture a city faster than them when they were besieging a place before I even thought about attacking Nanchang. :p :D

Turn 324: A couple of new interesting developments involving the Mongols. First off, the siege of Xi'an ends predicably:

Next, we have WAR!! :mwaha: With whom you may ask? Well...

2eaLA3O.jpg

Russia declared war on Mongolia! YES!!!!!! :D Unless something catastrophic happens (like the two sides making peace and Mongolia DOW'ing me immediately afterward), Russia just gave me the historical win. Mongolia should be too focused on the Russian bear to give me the light of day. I give Cathy a free gift of 100 gold as thanks.

Heading west (and isn't everything west for Japan ), we see the Arabs amassing an army to try to take Samarkand:

And with that, another update comes to a close. Sorry it's a little short, but I wanted to save the start of the 1800's (and the beginning of my run to historical victory) for it's own update. So until next time, see you next time, and stay tuned!

technically, everything could also be east for japan

I thought "Land of the Rising Sun" was Alaska

I wonder what's going to happen to the undefended Sioux Falls with two Dog Soldiers next to it...

Hello again, civvers!

I must say, it's been a long time (last update here was in February), and I wasn't exactly sure where I left off (I only remembered that I was close to a Historical Victory). I'd do a full update today, but I'm busy today, and am going to see the July 4th Fireworks later, so I don't have the time, but I will get an update soon, maybe even tomorrow (though that may not happen, since I'm busy tomorrow as well). Since it's been so long, I'll do another review update before getting back into the story.

Stay tuned, and sorry it took so long! :p

Hello again, civvers!

After a several months long hiatus (for which I apologize), I have returned! But instead of going into the fluffy stuff (long winded explanations and the like), let's get back to the story of Interesting Times!

Last time, the Mongols and the Japanese completed the partitioning of China, the Spanish expanded into southern Italy, the Arabs began a siege of Samarkand in Central Asia, and the Russians declare war on the Mongols, distracting them from me :D. And now, it's time to begin!

We start on turn 325, where the Ottomans have stolen Samarkand from the Arabs and have claimed it for themselves:

Tk1R3r9.jpg

Meanwhile, in North America, the American expansion into the Great Plains has run into problems with the natives, who have retaliated by capturing the American's settlement at Sioux Falls:

In addition, several countries are having problems with ethnic revolts. Among them are Greece in Istanbul/Byzantium:

F1applQ.jpg

And Latvia (Independent) in Riga (facing an imminent Russian attack no less):

guBtYYm.jpg

Meanwhile, the Arabs (who have been screwed by their allies the Turks for centuries) get their second African colony, settling Hilwa to the northeast of the ruins of Quelimane:

fZX5rhC.jpg

Turn 326: We get a bit of bad luck in the year 1805, as a slave revolt breaks out in Akita :(:

NfCpjJq.jpg

Meanwhile, the Arabs get some bad luck of their own, as after losing Samarkand to the Turks, they grab Binkath (the last independent city in Central Asia, now named Shash) only to lose it immediately to instability, meaning that the Arabs held Binkath for less than a turn :

O5N1Z7o.jpg

Also, the Russians take advantage of the pro-Russian revolt in Riga to assault the city, taking it with little trouble and bringing an end to the short-lived state of Latvia:

rTeUbqk.jpg

As for the Russo-Mongol War, there has been no direct fighting as of yet (due to a fair amount of Siberia laying in between them), but both sides are slowly bringing forces into the area between their respective territory. I'm hoping that they don't declare peace for a while, if only to keep the Mongols focused on Russia.

Turn 327: Nothing happens directly here, but guess who's about to take another city :

FfnTiOv.jpg

And with that, this long-delayed update comes to an end. I hope that you will come back next time, and see whether Greece can hold on to Istanbul, if the Americans can retake Sioux Falls, and whether the Mongols and Russians' war will heat up or end. Stay tuned!

Yay you're back!:clap: Also, that was very stupid of America might I say.

Thanks for the warm welcome back! :D

And yes, that was pretty dumb by the Americans. And the idiocy isn't over... look carefully, and you'll see that Grand Junction is also undefended. One can only imagine what could happen now...

Yeah I saw that. They are quite dumb :p

great scott! this thread is back!

Huzzah!

Good times...
