Interesting Times - The AI Side of RFC

Heh, I always had a bit of screwy luck with RFC, but never this much. This was an excellent read, thank you. I'm going to go play as Babylonia now and completely disrupt history to my best ability :mwaha:

Welcome back, civvers!

Last time we were together, the world's first congress shook up global politics (and ripped apart the Khmer Empire) and the war between the Persians and Arabs took a turn as the Ottoman Turks entered the war on the side of the Arabs. Now for today's action!

We start off by meeting Hannibal of Carthage:

Interesting that Carthage is still alive and kicking. However, they are vassals of the British now. Another thing I find interesting is that they are a Christian nation, as they are usually Muslim in my games (as in real life).

P.S. Sorry for the yield displays in the background. I had them on as a reference and forgot to turn it off when I took this screenshot.

Speaking of the British, I meet them for the first time, too:

BTW, can anyone tell me why some of the pics are much bigger than the others? I don't change my procedure for each one, yet I still get the occasional picture that is much larger than all of the others.

Meanwhile, the French found their second North American colony, Tete a la Baleine, deep into northeastern Canada:

(Again with the ultra-large pic... I want my pictures to be the same size, dang it!

Turn 282: One of my ships meets the Mayans, allowing me to also meet the Malinese and Ottomans (who are the masters of the other two). For convenience, I will only show the meeting with the Mayans:

I think I jinxed myself when I said I didn't want the ultra-large pics... :wallbash:

I also meet the Inca on the turn.

Over into Persia, the Persians continue to get their rear ends handed to them by the marauding Ottoman Turks:

Now the Persian capital, Parsa, is within range of the Ottomans. You can bet that if it falls, it's over for them.

Meanwhile, hard times have befallen the Romans again, as they are the principal victims of the next plague:

So far, it has devastated the Romans and Arabs (being in every Roman city), but has caused little damage elsewhere.

Turn 283: A few new developments. First off the Inca (who are apparently worried that they are vulnerable to the Europeans) have offered to become my vassals:

I decide to go for it, since they are not at war with anyone. If they had been at war, I would have refused, but they are at peace with everyone.

Also, the Mongols have apparently decided that it is worth it to attempt to extort money from me:

I refuse. The Mongols don't declare on me, but it may be time to get some troops into Korea and Qingdao, because you can bet that Kublai's not going to stay quiet forever.

I'm glad that I took on the Inca as vassals. Huayna gave me his entire map for free (which includes most of North and South America), and he has a bunch of resources (including stone, corn, and cotton, which I do not have). I trade his stone and only cotton for one of my five silk.

Meanwhile, the Vikings have settled Husavik, on the island of Iceland:

Now, if only they settle Vinland :D. Too bad that area's already French...

What's wrong with this picture?

With that, this update will come to a close (I played turn 284, but nothing happened other than the Arabs moving an army through Ottoman territory, apparently wanting their own spoils of war against the Persians). Next time, we'll see the continuation (and possibly conclusion) of the war in the Middle East, we will see how badly the plague spreads throughout the war (it is currently wreaking havoc all over Europe) and we'll take note of the Mongols, and see if they get any ideas in relation to the Japanese. Until then, stay tuned!

Amazing shoe! Great shoe!

The vikings seem to always settle Husavik as opposed to Reykjavik in my games too.

I would have said that the joke was getting old, but I didn't want to be mean about it :p

I will shoeun anyone who dislikes these shoe jokes! I will shoe them away and boot them out of this thread!

Triple pun! 10x score!
