I thought we were headed to the river as well, and settling the isthmus later.

Aye, if that's the consensus, that's what'll happen. The isthmus cities were to block the passage, create a "canal", and provide money earners- esp good if we are building the GLH.

I think this was the case. I was in favor of reversing that order, but those wiser than me prefer the river first, so my ignorance (while considerable) is not invincible; I will deffer. ;)

I think there's time to settle that spot before Epsilon. We're closer and if they did settle it then they'd have to protect it. That's a long way from home without roads and military. Here's an old picture but it may give some perspective.

River it should be. there is clearly time to put a town on the isthmus.

Here is the latest image from our new city selection committee's weather balloon. We need to help the morons figure out where to build the city center.

I'm thinking that 1 W of the settler would be a great spot. Mainly because Balderdash won't be using all of those tiles until later. Also the fat cross won'g extend into the desert or the tundra so we should be able to use all of them eventually.

1SW1W puts corn and wine in the LTC and leaves the hill to the SE for another town that will have horses and tundra forest (pretty decent producers about the time of lumber mills but pretty good commerce until then)

For me it's 1S2W (same as Bede for same reasoning) or possibly 1SW which nets an extra floodplain. The former looks better, imo.

We have another issue now... the lack of defence. Our warriors have taken some stick, and it'll be what.. about 15 turns til we could get an axe out?

let's compromise and settle the isthmus

6E 3N - that blocks the Isthmus, gives us wheat... oh, got confused.

I'm with Gram - 1SW (1N of wine). I like the 3 Flood plains for cottages.

I vote for Graham's spot. The city will be able to work multiple options depending on need. It will also set up another nice spot to the west.

Should we rush the rax in Hamburger so we can start on units?

gram crackers it shall be!

I'm indifferent on the matter tbh. I am no good at [civ4] (see spoilers for any of my games). Some would argue that I'm no good at [c3c] too. But I default to Kickbooti's infamous quote, "I might not be good, but I'm slow"

I've attained the level of "infamy!" :woohoo:

So is my starting point is "Putz" (I've been at that level for some time) have I RISEN to infamy or DESCENDED to infamy? Any help is appreciated.

I think that you've risen, unless your parishiners are still telling you to pound sand

A sad note was in my inbox... Bubba should be avenged by his own. We need some of those barbarian secret weapons (naked women & alcohol)
Bubba
Dear all of Piffledom,

We were witnesses to the climactic battle between the Bubba Warriors and the barbarian forces of darkness.
Our scouts report that the Bubbas fought fiercely and bravely, and would have won, except a cruel trick by the barbarians distracted them at a crucial moment. Apparently the distraction involved half-clothed women and some kind of alcoholic beverages… but the details are sketchy.

You will be pleased to know that we have avenged the death of Bubba, and made the barbarians pay for their… barbarity.

We hope you will sleep easier knowing that the murderers of the Bubbas have had justice visited upon them.

Your Friends,
From the Golden Halls of Epsilon Eridani,
Epsilon Team!
