You should make sure that you have the current version, which should be 0.9.9b.
As for the mod itself I think it should suffice if you read the first post(s) of the main download thread and maybe the FAQ. It isn´t too big of a jump, think of it as the difference between Vanilla and BtS if you experienced that one. There are about four new civs, some new leaders and one new trait, and some of the old civs have been slightly changed. One of the bigger changes is the addition of the RevolutionDCM modpack, although we can turn it off in the settings like most new additions if you think it´s too complicated for your first game. Basically you have to manage the loyalty of your subjects/citizens and if your people gets fed up with your rule it may just decide to overthrow you.
I and gfurst didn´t manage to join each other with LoR when we tried it yesterday, so if worst comes to worst we´ll just stick with BtS anyway.

If we start in ancient time will we be using the "minor start"?

My girlfriend lives with me and she goes to bed kind of early, I would be going to be around that time too.
If you never played LoR you're in for a treat.
How do you guys play though? Very competitive?
I usually just play for the fun of it, as I've said I've never played MP before.

I don´t mind if we play just for fun, and personally I don´t like the minor start all that much. It might be kinda nice in the beginning for roleplaying purposes, but it just slows down the tech rate for the rest of the game too much because all the AIs take forever to research Writing by themselves since they prefer going the military route while they are still minor.

I guess we should have clarified that we were talking PM. Maybe we can arrange another game tomorrow at a time that would be more comfortable for you?
Depends really on the context of the game. Since this is gpcii´s first LoR game and would have been your first MP game overall I certainly am not about to choke you with Skirmishers the moment I meet you. Gpcii can confirm that I even helped him get a city in our RFC game when he was Rome and I Carthage.

I usually like to the more "grow your civ" side then gamey way. Its both though.
Actually yesterday I tested playing BTS multiplayer, even the terrain seemed so outdated to me.
I would like to test it out with LoR, turned out the 9.10 version was unstable for MP.

I personally like the "start as minor" option, is much more immersive and way harder to get on the good side with the AI. its true though it slows research a lot.

Hey guys, I like the fact you are organizing nice Internet games (ones involving mature players). I've read the thread, if you are still doing these games, maybe I could join you. Weekdays are not good for me (gotta go to bed early for my day job, can't afford to play long multiplayer games, that's why I choose PBEM for weekdays) but weekends I can manage. I'm used to play long hours of Civ during weekends, so it's easier for me. Time zones are less of a problem on weekends too, and I saw some of us are nearby in this sense (I'm at GMT -3).

For Internet multiplayer I prefer regular BtS. However I checked out LoR, I've never played it but I know its features from C2C, so I should be fine.
RFC seems to depart more from regular BtS, so I'll have to get used to it playing some single player games.
