IO7 - Jihad!!

Whichever feels more natural in terms of a stopping point imo. I'd go for the south west gold/cow rice city first, then south east floodplain/incense then backfill. Exploring a bit more north west could help with city placement in the future.

Also, just a couple of random thoughts, might it not be helpful for us to try to grab a few religious wonders in the game as well, if we can? I mean things like the Apostolic Palace, and the Spiral Minaret (ESPECIALLY the Spiral Minaret). Considering we'll be running a thoroughly religious game, these sorts of wonders might be helpful. Not to mention that Shrine + Spiral Minaret usually adds up to a lot of gold, which can be helpful when you're trying to sustain a large military (which we'll need if we want the whole world to be Islamic).

So I played. I'm afraid there is no detailed report today. We did get a nice event:

I have settled Damascus and our research went down, down, down...

There are, however, these two tech trades on the table:

Pacal:

And Zara:

I have hired 2 priests in Mecca and a GPr will pop pretty soon to net us Theo.

Looking good. I'm not sure we need more tile improvements in Mecca at the moment so I'd be tempted to start roading south east. I'd also be tempted to swop to settler build in Mecca for the south east and slow grow Medina without further whipping because working the gold is worth doing. Also send an axe to FP/incense to stop barb city popping there.
Edit: trading for alpha opens up trades with the other AIs of course. Maybe alpha+hunting for monarchy then look to pick up archery, IW and sailing.

Played 10 turns to 500bc.

750ad. Made a trade:

Swopped Mecca to settler.

725. Couple more trades:

Remembered to swop research to meditation.

675. Damascus whips monument.

625. Prophet in Mecca. Sack priests, work tiles.

575. First barb appears.
Double whip settler.

500. Med>Currency.
Prophet bulbs theocracy, Damascus is christian holy city.
Debating where to build fourth city:

Zara is west of Damascus.
Sury is far south.
Pacal has been spamming hindu missionaries.
Zara's gone hindu.
Greece remains in judaism.
2 workers have been building a road east.
Medina has been growing slowly.
Pacal has chariots, maybe build a spear or two just in case.
Explored a bit north west, potential iron/crab city.

Will do this tomorrow. Nice round, Pigswill.

No time to attach screenshots now, sorry.
Events:
City founded near FP in southern spot.
Ellies found near Pacal.
Zara went Kung-Fu.
Currency in in 10 turns.
I played too much.

Interesting. Count this as a "got it". I'll look at the save and post a report on what I think we should do soon.

Sigh... I gotta ask for a skip again. Stupid me, I know, stupid stupid me. But I didn't think I'd get dragged into babysitting all day for three days. Stupid me, stupid stupid me.

Well, yeah, but now it's been so long I think I could just handle it myself.

Turn 0 (185 BC): We actually seem to be doing all right. Good for us. Let's go!

Turn 2 (155 BC): We finish an Axeman in Damascus. I start on a Christian Missionary, because if we keep getting GP points we'll want a Shrine there eventually.

Turn 5 (110 BC): I finish a Hindu Temple in Mecca and start on a Galley, because for some reason we decided not to defend our fishing boats at all. Srs.

Turn 7 (80 BC): We get 208 gold free from a Gold Mine event! Yay us!

Turn 8 (65 BC): We get Currency!

We're one step closer to easing our economic woes. I go for Code of Laws to get that next step.

Turn 13 (10 AD):

We found another city!

Civ4ScreenShot0015-1.jpg

On red dot, of course. It hurts us economically, but we need more expansion, badly.

Final Turn (25 AD):

We meet our 7th and Final opponent:

Civ4ScreenShot0016-3.jpg

Persia! He's the weakest on the field, but he's a member of a very solid Jewish bloc. Our objectives won't be easy, that's for sure.

And with that, I pass it on to woopdeedoo.

Save: IO7 25 AD

More settlers. We don't need christian missionaries, we need cities.

Good job.
I agree with Pigswill. Our economy can still take some hits and we are researching CoL.

Had a look at the save. We are getting boxed in rather quickly. I'm going to forego missionary builds and settle, settle, settle! I also want to start getting an army of sorts together. We are rather weak.

Apologies for not posting sooner, I have had trouble finding an Internet connection. I will play today and post tonight or tomorrow.

Ok. Played. Things went as follows:

The whip flew back and forth. Work Boats and settlers were queued. Pericles offered a deal:

I decided to accept. Work boats and Axemen are build. We have an event:

pacalevent.png

This saddens me but I opt to take the +3 Pacal boost. Shortly after, the favour is returned:

Code of Laws gets researched and I set it to Divine Right. Our GPr is due soon and we should (hopefully) get that done soon so the spreading of Islam can begin.

Darius made a demand, I politely declined:
