IO7 - Jihad!!

I had a look at the save. Building a worker at 1 pop? I don't think that's correct. Also, the Greeks are WAY too far away for an axe-rush. The land is actually pretty mediocre from what I can tell :( More scouting of our immediate neighbourhood is also required...

Yeh, sorry about the scouting... Once I reached the end of that nearby floodplain, I was gonna go back, but then I got that village, and there were other villages to grab, and, yeah... I started moving him back about turn 20, but he got attacked and so he's healing up now.

@woop

that's your first worker, it's ok. I think you shouldn't start with warrior though. Should have been X turns of worker, then WB on PH, then finish worker. Would speed up the worker arrival and start of the game.

Looking for another player?

I'd like to join if you're not too fussy.

Gladly. Judging by the commentary, I will probably need another person to give advice anyway - not that I mind. ;)

Something that's worth considering is using garrison warrior to scout south/south west. Its too early for barbs/animals to cross borders and we're well below happy cap.

If we're going for earlyish DR then one ploy is to have a go at nabbing theology with Oracle, we'd need mono and writing. If we have food near the marble we could build city#2 there. If we get theo we'd build a madrassa or two to generate GPs to bulb DR.

Haven't done the maths. Is it worth growing to pop2 (5 turns) starting WB before finishing worker?

Ok. So I would like to interrupt the worker build. We don't have BW yet and all the surrounding land is forested. Switch to WB (or warrior) and grow. Once we have BW in, then go for PH, Mono to Oracle Theo for DR beeline. Do more scouting.

Sounds like a plan. If I might recommend, I'd prefer the Work Boat over the Warrior. But other than that, should be fun.

We have moved along. Bronze Working has been studied and we are in the process of learning the theory of Polytheism. I chose the more expensive tech (as opposed to Meditation) since it's a pre-req for both Mono and Priesthood for our Theology slingshot.

In 3050BC, we lost 23 :science: due to some setback event. A workboat and a worker has been whipped in our capital. I have also done some more scouting. I have taken the liberty of making a dotmap for future settlement (suggestions):

The land around us is pretty mediocre. I believe we need to get a settler out after our current warrior build completes.

Its certainly an interesting puzzle if we want to incorporate marble. Its slightly easier if we forget marble.

Growing to pop3 before starting settler is an option as is growing to pop2 and building/chopping settler while waiting for copper to be connected.

If we go yellow first then we'd probably need AH before poly.

We might be able to forget the marble, but if we do, we'll definitely need the gold. What alternative tile were you thinking of exactly when you mentioned forgetting that?

Even so, I do still think that we should get Yellow Dot first. Red Dot isn't exactly a rich area (but then, is any of our land?) and Blue Dot is just too far away at this point, I think.

If we plan to do Oracle Theo slingshot then it's worth getting the Marble. It also opens up other WoWs. Lighthouse may be a good option here. Especially if we want to ReX a bit.

I played 25 turns up to T70 (2250bc) to get Medina built.

T45 Swop to AH for Medina's cows.
T49 Mecca pop2, swop to settler, working 2 clams.
T58 Copper mined, work clam and copper.
T61 AH>poly.
T68 settler>warrior.
T70 Stonehenge bidl.
T70 Medina founded, worker learning how to milk cows.

No neighbours. More surprisingly no barbarians yet. I suspect that several AIs have been building wonders instead of settlers which delays appearance of barbs. However that won't last long and when barbs appear in the near future they'll come in droves so I'd reckon that we spare the whip and grow cities to increase axe production.
We'd benefit from another worker for sure, maybe once Mecca's grown to pop 3.

Oh, of course. Got it. I'll submit an overall plan soon.

EDIT: Like, within a couple hours.

For Medina I'd let it grow, once cows are pasturised maybe chop a forest to speed up monument. The delay with Theology is going to be research, medina will grow slowly but at pop 3 it can work improved marble and a goldmine which will speed research nicely.
Mecca warrior>axe (at pop 3 swop to worker)>axe>axe because I seriously reckon we'll have lots of barbs showing up pretty soon.

Sorry about all the waiting... I've been exceptionally busy lately, what with doing two and a half jobs and getting my car broke down in the meantime... I'll play sometime today, I swear.

I'd like to join up too.
I probably won't be able to update fast in the upcoming month, though, because of tests. I hope that's not a problem.

Always willing, Strijder! Also, if you could take the current turnset, that would be wonderful... if not, I might have to wait till Sunday. Two jobs is hard!
