Ionut's Civs

I was also a bit confused by the added dll. I was wondering, will you keep the custom UI/HUD that was included?

Yes I will be keeping the custom UI/HUD. However it will be the Charcoal UI that asioasioasio created. I have found that it is a better final product as it doesn't have the minor bugs that the other had (missing icons).

Hi there. I am really interested in this mod but to my disappointment the game always crashes when trying to start the mod, with no specific error log. i followed the given instructions to the letter, so that cant be the problem. could it be related to the latest patch? anyone had problems with it too?

the current version released is for the 3.03 patch. I would say that this is your problem if you are running 3.13. I am working on a version for 3.13. I have not set a release date at this stage as the work to do on this project is massive and I will need a while to put it all together.

Will the final release be modular so we can pick and choose what civs to install?

Got the Australian civ (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=218822) working last night in 3.0.3.

Few things I've noticed. If there's an Australian AI player, there's no theme music when you open up a diplomacy/trading screen with then. Should there be? I'm guessing there should be but you're lacking a music sample to put in there.

Also the voicing done by the units, is that unique or borrowed from another civ?

OK so first thing is first. Yes the final release will be modular. Every civ I have worked on since BtS was released has been modular and I see no sense in stopping now.

As for the Australian Diplomacy screen. Honestly I had never noticed that there was no music. I will try to fix it for the next release. However none of my civs have Custom music, so it will be "borrowed" from another civ.

The voicing done for the units, aside from the Romanian sound set all are the original Fraxis released sounds.

Hope that answers all your questions for you.

Well it has been a busy couple of weeks for me with these civs, from the 12 that are currently in open release for 3.13 I have added another 6. ( 2 are already released but required [as all my civs did] updating to 3.13) Unfortunately I am not going to tell you who these civs are. I want to surprise you all! :mischief:  However here are some screen shots for you all to look at and try to guess who they are and or who they belong too! :goodjob:

I hope you all enjoy this little preview of the next release of Ionut's Civilizations! Coming soon for BtS 3.13 :goodjob:

that chariot and the hoplite have a dynamic look whatever they are-
in so far as added civs- i guess Brazil and Macedonia.

Unfortunately I have to say no and no. Not even close with those civs. Little hint though, the Spearman and the Chariot belong to those flags. And both are located in similar locations and had politically alot to do with each other at the time.

the hints suggest Sparta or Acheans or Peloponsian league for the spear-
the Galatians guess goes good with the chariot-(after i read about who they were) but as that is incorrect i will end my guessing with 2 suspicians.

Well Sparta = Dorian Greece. The Galatians Occupied the same territory as both of these civs. So neither are from the Greek mainland. Both are mentioned in Homers Epic the Iliad as being staunch allies of Troy. ( In fact one of these civs expanded its empire to include the city of Troy and the surrounding lands). Both ended their sovereignty at the hands of the Persians, one by their own design ( by attacking the Medeans) and bringing the wrath of the combined might of the Medeans and their Persian allies down upon them. (ouch too many hints!:( )

I should also point out that the Galatians being of Celtic stock did not use chariots much, instead relying on Shock troops as was traditional in Celtic armies to the West in Europe. Also the high age of Chariot warfare had drawn to a close by the time the Galatians settled in Asia Minor, replaced by the companion cavalry of the Greek successor states.

Is there a Trojan civ in your mod? -I put a request for that and an Amazon civ-(trojan ally)
well then they are Dardanians or Lycians (i think u have that one so -
Maeonians. Dardanians/Maeonians Thats my final guess.

We have a winner!:D Well you got 1 at least. The Lycians were originally requested by Ekmek a while ago in this thread. It took me a few months to get around to it. But there they are. The green flag and spearman are from the Lycians.

The Dardanians were a particularly fierce Thracian tribe who lived in central Thrace (modern day Bulgaria). They were also allies of the Trojans and written about in Homers Iliad, however I have no plans to create a Dardanian civ as I already have a Thracian civ created.

Nice work Troy, good to see you know your history well ;) :goodjob:

As for you question about a Trojan civ. No I have not created one, Amra created one early last year and I know it is included in several mods (CivGold being one if memory serves me). As for the Amazons. I may create them in the future if no one else steps up to try. Right now I have no plans to create an Amazonian civ.

lol. one is good. the screenshots look great-anticipating its release.
and thanks for the info

Your welcome. Theres still a fair way to go. I'm hoping now that I will be able to create 1 civ every 2 days or so from here on out. I know there will be a couple of tricky ones ( theres a particular arabian civ I'm both dreading and excited to create as they will pose a HUGE challenge to find historical information about.)
