IOT Developmental Thread

Are you doing a private sector growth thing like I did in SpoM Pt.2? Because that just ended up being annoyingly complicated.

No. Private Sector is really just corporate PCs and NPCs. Privatizing public sector stuff can create new corporations if you don't want to give stuff to foreign state corporations or domestic corporations.

However, instead of the factory cap being a hard cap, I think I'll make it a soft cap. If you go over, the cost of factories go up, while if you're under, cost of factories are lower.

I'm also rethinking the party bonuses altogether, but since 8mm not at a computer right now, I don't want to crunch numbers.

Lets try and exercise in IOT/NES cooperation.

Did I say cooperation? I must have meant cutthroat politics.

Reapolitik. Except the game world will be controlled and dictated by yours truly as the GM. I will invite a NESer to co GM the game under me in order to ensure no misunderstandings occur. IOTers and NESers will make up the government of a country. IOTers will be the House of Representatives and the NESers will be the Senate. All are assumed to be already in government, but will have to campaign in the future in order to keep their seats. IOTers will have to elect a consul to office, and the NESers will do the same. The two consuls will lead the country in an executive sense while Congress deals with the country in a legislative sense. A bill must pass both houses of Congress to become law.

The turns will be 5 years each. During a war, the consuls will get mini updates and have to command the military based on them. Every 2 turns the house will go through an election based on NPC votes to see if they remain in office, and what parties gain position. Every 3 turns the same NPC elections will go through for NESers. However every 3 turns the NES Consul will also be up for re-election, while every 4 turns the IOT Consul will be up for re-election. There are no term limits.

Although it may seem like IOT vs NES in the congressional view, parties within the two parts of Congress will still exist. In fact it is encouraged for IOTers and NESers to cooperate in forming parties as any party that holds significant influence in both the House and the Senate will no doubt be very powerful indeed.

In addition, outside the direct political arena players will be able to manage personal estates, gain riches, and start businesses among other actions.

I feel that this might inspire some measure of cooperation between IOT and NES while feeding the healthy competition some of those in these sub forums feel.

Do you think there is any interest? If so I may post this over in the NES development thread and see what happens there too.

I am interested, it sounds fun.

None of the NESers who hate IOTers will join and vice-versa, which sort of defeats the purpose.

Considering that there are many dual citizens of both IOT and NES I sense a special voting block would emerge... that or we would have to give dual citizens like Tails special Lordship status in both parliaments.

Pretty much everyone who would be a part of this would have played an IOT and a NES before though. People should just choose the one that they feel most comfortable with being a part of.

So what happens when we get to Tails? Are you going to force him out of dual citizenship? What have dual citizens ever did to you?

They murdered my family.

Jokes aside, having dual citizens would not only completely break the balance of the game, it would open up a whole can of worms regarding what exactly a dual citizen is. Does playing one NES and one IOT make you a dual citizen? What about 100 NESes and 1 IOT? If you make it a binary choice however, it avoids that problem as people are just going to pick the one they feel closest to.

Binaries have their issues though. Those who truly are near even should be able to play as evens.

I dunno, I'm not Arya so I'm not making this decision but I think that having binaries causes less problems in the long run.

(Jeeze I have no idea why I am being so argumentitive. I should probably just relax)

For the purposes of this game, they would pick one or the other. There will be no holding a seat in both halves of congress, as that would mean 2 votes.

I have a solution: declare the game as set in a constitutional monarchy and crown Tails king!

C'mon, we all know TK should just sit at the church's altar (?)

Vote Tails for the head of the game's nation's religion or sect!

In many cases being monarch may pass this test.

Thats actually not that bad an idea, to have a religious head that can do things like excommunication and call crusades, depending on the time period. At the very least he would hold significant influence both in elections and in the political arena itself.

TK would you be interested in such a position or will we have to suffer Jeho demanding it?

Ahem...
