IOT Developmental Thread

Actually I have a Proposition!

Alright.

So Basically, If you Do not have a Territory which touches the Ocean you can't expand across an Ocean.

So To make it clearer.
An Example

If your only Provence is in Paris. You cant Expand Into Say Morocco unless you have a Provence which Touches the ocean, Say Bordeaux.
This seems like a Problem]in TF's NES. IOT

No. Could claim that you used allies or other people's land to assist you, which actually makes logical sense.

Yes This Also.
But InRl.
The Small nations of Belgium and The Netherlands Colonized huge countries. (Congo and Indonesia, Respectively)

yeah, i dont know how relatively small nations can do that. britan colonizing half the world seemed power-gamy for them.

I think that you should have to be next to the ocean but no size limits.

PS: How can a RL nation Powergame? Coming from a powergamer.

PPS: I know I'm not even in this, so it might as well only have been posted for Omega.

Look- STOP CALLING MATH A POWERGAMER. I'm standing up for him because he's going nonstop through verbal abuse from you. How about you stop, and I don't report you?

Also, Joe, if it's not too much trouble could you update the front page to show which ideas got passed and which ones didn't?

Sure, I will, though, what, besides the map and now the date, has been passed?

Anyways, I'm too lazy to count up everything but from eyeballing it, it seems as though 1453 has an overwhelming majority of votes.

So the game will now start in 1453.

As for Zelet's proposition, I'm for it.

Great :goodjob:, ill be able to exist as Byzantium :)

So what will we do about the Americas? What if we put a few, majorly weakened and easily conquer-able NPC's there, but make it easy to invade them after 1500? Before 1500 it should be locked to everyone else.

I don't think we should have NPC's, they just kinda clog up the map. I'd rather have the entire world player created, it's more fun that way.

This is a good idea.
You can't Colonize the Americas until after 1492.

NO!!! I WANT MY BRASIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could start in Europe and then colonize Brazil and move your government there like Portugaul did in RL. But a heads-up: I'm thinking about being Spain, so it might get crowded if you take Portugual.

I invisioned as giving humans a huge bonus in combat, maybe remove some of the Indian/NPC land from their empires because of "plauges", and hamper thier expansion so they were incredible small and weak. They would just be fodder for the Old Worlders when we get there. After 1600, they would all be gone.

I really want Venice, guys. That was my first M2 campaign, and probably my best one.

Plz?

The thing is, there is going to be no difference in tech for old worlders and new worlders, unless the players choose to.

So there would really be no need for NPC's in the old world.

I just thought it might spice up colonization a little bit. If we locked the Americas and let only NPC's in, then it would simulate the RL issues of whether to be peaceful to Natives or DOW them. It's just a suggestion. Is it too late to put this to a vote? I would word it as:

"Should we lock the New World to everyone before a specified date?"
"If yes, should there be weak NPC's to represent Indians that can be easily conquered when Old Worlders arrive?"

Well, the Vikings made it to the New World before 1492, but for fairness' sake, yes, lock it to all powers. What is actually there is a different issue.

*shakes my head* let me guess your gonna conquer Constantinople as soon as possible right?
