IOT Developmental Thread

May I suggest an IOT where the term "Sphere of Influence" is outlawed and trying to claim one results in immediate banning from the game. I get really tired of "I'm gonna claim aallllllllllllll this land, and if you try and claim any, then I'm going to threaten to declare war until you withdrawl your claim. To me, SOI's ruin the fun of rushing to grab the best land before others do and having to respond to someone taking something you wanted. With SOI's in IOT IV, half the world borders are already drawn up, and having to claim five at a time is just a formality.

After seeing the insane crap in IOT Rev, I'm beginning to agree. I don't think we should ban the term, but it should be limited.

For instance, if I'm France, wanting everyone to stay out of... well, France, is perfectly realistic. Wanting everyone to stay out of every single colony you've ever established to go along with it is insanely silly.

In my game, I'm gonna have a casus beli system, and I am going to TOTALLY ban discussion of SOIs of the New World until Colonization becomes a possibility.

@Ilduce- The first draft was on page 86, and I'm searching for the Second Draft right now. There will be a final draft though with a few changes, so feel free to suggest anything that should be changed. (Technology is being VERY much changed.)

I understand it's gameplay vs. realism, but shouldn't it be possible to employ the Kaetif willingly, albeit with some other associated cost?
Like I said, it's an ongoing project. I just listed everything I'd thought of in about ten minutes. If improvements are a keeper, I'll certainly look into ideological counterweights.

Feel free to offer ideas.

@Thorvald: How bad is Brazil at present? Or are they dead? I can't remember.
The DCRB was destroyed, and most of the land is now only fit for the Abhorrents.

...We'll see.

I'd probably have to start at war with any Brazilian theocracy anyway, since as terrorists, they nuked us! You don't become official and suddenly "change," I'm afraid.

As for ideas, there should certainly be a counterweight to the forced labor system; I'd recommend a paid labor system. Unless we have a Waterworld mentality where gifted individuals are set up for death, the Kaetif would be quite useful to any economically-aspiring nation, being able to reap more from the wastes. Therefore, the paid labor would not hurt reputation, but would carry economic costs - i.e. taking away from your income. Not sure how it'd balance with reputation though so both have more or less equal costs in reality; forced labor being for anti-Kaetif and paid labor being for moderates or pro-Kaetif.

Also, how resistant would the Kaetif be to radiation? The importance of this will be revealed in my bio(which is actually almost complete ). I'm having too much fun with the history honestly..

I don't remember what I was, but I'd like to return to IOT4

I just hope you don't put too much on your plate that would take away from your other activities like DYOS.

They're adapted to the yellow zone environment such that they can live outdoors without suffering adverse health effects. It's not a particularly pleasant existence, but unlike the humans, they can make use of irradiated land and water without needing extensive and expensive purification systems. Red zones remain about as toxic to them as to humans.

Yours was RNG based, I meant like ideology wars or mine.

The problem with that is that at some point, you can't account for every little aspect in war. Sometimes, just by dumb luck, the little guy does win.
