IOT Developmental Thread

No. Free market. Join whatever game you want, if you don't like it, stay out of it.

Can we leave politics out of this. This is about what's practical and what's not.

But IOT is a much smaller brand

Well it won't be for much longer.

I was actually quoting Omega124's statement when Zack proposed a bunch of Mafia rules. My entire point was, you can pick whatever game you feel is best (Or more than one, if you feel like it) and the games that are less good will die on their own. That way, people can make complex IOTs, and people who don't like it won't (Or shouldn't) complain, and same with simple IOTs.

My post had NOTHING to do with real politics. Nor should it. This is TF's site anyway...

Although, it seems that only in forum games do we have "Moderators" with no mod titles...

Having two or three running at the same time is fine. But five or six is too many

My post had NOTHING to do with real politics.

Well, stop flavoring every second damn post with it.

And the "Never Ending Stories" forum, and DRAW Your Own Story too....

Well, It's not going to be finished for a little while. I don't really mind if I have to wait a long time, since IOT6 might be dead by the time I polish up everything. :p

I REPEAT: THE TURN 3 UPDATE FOR RESOURCE WARS IS COMPLETE.

Just thought I might mention it again in case anyone missed the other two times I said it.

Although no one seems to want to play mine. Even though I posted the update.

That's the problem. D3K's claim that "good IOT survives, bad IOT dies" doesn't necessarily translate to reality. Personally, I can only handle two games at a time. If there are too many games running at the same time you see inactivity, and it's not necessarily because the games are bad, but rather because there are too few players to play them and remain active in the game.

Wrong. I said the BEST IOTs live. There is a difference. One can be good but not be the best. IOTs can also die due to lack of time.

In any case, I say let them play. If 12 people want to make an IOT, let them.

Also @Double A- I left your IOT before you started GMing it. It wasn't because of you, it was because I have VERY limited time coming, and I REALLY want to run the Holy Land.

Yeah, I'm not saying you did because you predicted me getting the game. I don't really blame you for anything.

That post was directed at Maxa.

But I like it! It's probably tied for my favorite with Enlightenment (and not just cuz I'm gming).

Yeah, Enlightenment's a good game.

I'd like to GM something like that, but there are already too many IOTs running/in development, for one, and I'm cautious about GMing anything after what happened with Ab Antiquo and IOTVI.

Yeah, Enlightenment's a good game.

D'awwww:cry: I'm getting a warm and fuzzy feeling inside:goodjob: For something that I wrote up 40% of the rules for on the spot, copied 20% from IOT6, and only did two test runs of the combat system, both of them for sea battles, I'm shocked it's working so well.

Anyway I find myself in between the two camps. Sure, if you want to run an IOT, go ahead . . . but that also strikes me as a bit to random. I know that I've basically dropped out of Resource Wars - and IOT6 in some ways - because of GMing Enlightenment.

So yeah. I'm no help:p I don't have a wonderful GM track record, but I have what I must modestly say are great ideas. I just can't keep up at them forever. Except Realpolitik, which lasted almost a year, making it the most successful game of its type in world history. Maybe with it done I can keep Enlightenment going . . . .

IOT6 is now dead.

For the most part, the three largest IOTs are Revolution, Sons of Mars, and Enlightment with Resource Wars and Homefront being second tier.

Enlightenment will probably end, but instead of it due to inactivity, it will be from someone winning. The map is kinda small, but that's partly what makes it so fun.

I'd say when those start to die out, we could start an IOT VII in the vein of the other simple-IOT's that have been numbered. If we time it right, we can get a good turnout by catching people from the dieing other IOT's. If we have most people in a productive, big IOT, then that might cut down on second tier ones.

The problem with that is that it doesn't work. IOTVI ended after 10 updates and IOTR is dead (though that's because I consider any IOT that has to have a second thread built by another player to continue it dead).

That's leaves SoM, IOTE, IOTREV, and Homefront.

If everyone told me what they had/what I had was correct (province- and program-wise), I could run it smoothly.

STOP DOUBTING ME

That's just the problem. It isn't you. It's the fact the game changed hands. After IOT6 changed hands to ZeletDude who updated once or twice before leaving the game to a third person, I don't think anyone has "faith" in that system anymore.
