IOT Developmental Thread

Thanks, Sonereal!

So, there are 100 counties in NC, what do you guys think about me tripling that?

That's too much unless each person is starting with 15 claims or something. Is this an NC only deal or are you using the whole map? In any case, I'm interested.

NC only apparently. Personally I think it should be NC and SC, just so you can call it "IOT, Carolina Wars."

BTW: I'm not joining any other IOTs where Mathalamus Empire or other excessive stupid crap/powergaming/metagaming are not strictly banned, at least for this month, I don't have the patience to DOW and fight long wars with all the stupid people who don't know how to play the game.

Also: BTW: I don't mind a stupid nation ONCE, but the same one more than once is annoying. (Really, anyone playing the same nation more than maybe twice is annoying, but if its a realistic nation its not THAT big of a deal, like Pacifistan was played by Owen everytime and I didn't care, if its a resurrected Historical empire that was unlikely to spawn even once, its more annoying, if its totally unrealistic its even more so.) To give an example, LH was Batmanistan once, and it was Actually very funny. But if he did it again, it would be annoying. Doubly so when its been done like four times and you literally cannot control yourself. It ruins the game.

Ironically, when Duke bought out Batmanistan, he renamed it DC Corp.

Why stop at just Carolina? Why not everything east of the Mississippi! ;)

I was thinking of an IOT set in Nebraska, the idea would be something similar to Mad Max 2(Renegade highway warriors0 or Grand Theft Auto(gangs, mafias and whatnot), but perhaps this could work in Norcal instead.

Actually, a gang war game would be hella-fun but just because I haven't seen Mad Max.

Well, the armies in IOTC are pretty much done, and I threw away the idea of navies, so all I have to do is test things and balance them out as neccesary. :)

Was this purposely a reference to DC Comics?;)

Really though, most people are sane when it comes to stupid nations. It's fine at the least, SOMETIMES POSITIVE, but more than three per game, or more than one by the same person (Especially the SAME joke by more than one person) gets on my nerves. And I won't play in any future IOTs where its tolerated while I'm on Vacation. And trust me, in the ones I'm in, I'll take actions to ensure that the stupidity ends fast.

WAIT A SECOND!

How can you have a colonization game without navies? :p

Yep.

I guess I don't mind stupid nations if they're not too excessive. After all, the UFNSCP didn't stir people in IOT6. Batmanistan and X, for some reason, did in IOT Rev. Early on in IR, a LOT of people were throwing a hissy-fit over the DB Corporation but DB picked the right nation persona. There's a TV Trope for nations like his. The kind where selling entire cities, countries, and then buying out smaller ones such as Japan and Batmanistan, is standard for a megacorp.

I honestly thought DB Corp was a reasonable, non-stupid nation. But even THAT would get annoying after the fourth time. Let alone a real stupid nation.

The Nation of X was pointless, but I didn't get the big deal. Batmanistan was hillarious. The ninja pirates were kinda cool I guess. But I wouldn't want to see ANY of those nations more than once.

The thing about it is that I can totally have written history for each of those nations. Batmanistan? Simple. Cargo Cult caused by Hawaii being cut off from the mainland and someone charismatic running with the comic. Nation of X? Cult-of-Personality Dictator. So yeah.

I'm just surprise he didn't think to put Batmanistan in Turkey, theres a city in that country called Batman.

I actually said LH's Batmanistan was a cult-of-personality. It works for X as well.

But there's no way to defend Mathalamus Empire, ESPECIALLY a democratic one.

I learned something new today.

There's....no real justification I guess? Given that Burma's government changed its name to Myanmar yet the world, out of protest, calls in Burma, I figure people could just do that.

Bleeding. Kansas.

I would be interested in joining the colonization one, and I think the US County based one could be fun, but I doubt I'd play if it was just North Carolina. What if we made it the whole South, and based it around the CSA winning the Civil War, but then breaking up into factions fighting to gain control? I would definitlely play that.
