The dark skinned Persians! These heathens claim to have discovered the elixir of life! A strange plant called an Opium poppy gives nectar that, when inhaled from a strange furnace with boiling water called a nargeela an old man feels young, a poor man feels rich and a woman feels fertile. This new plant has been brought to Europe and whoever gets a monopoly on it will swim in riches, Which European or African nation gets a trade agreement with a nation that posses opium will be rewarded with riches. We are yet to see what the pope says about this, is it a blasphemy to use such a pagan potion or is gods plant? The Papal States may forbid the trade in christian states, to prevent a monopoly but the offended nation will get a trade dispute Casus Belli. In other chronicle events of middle earth some priests and nut cases are predicting the end of the world, and you should repent by whipping yourself and singing godly songs. The not so great Muslim sultanate has finally collapsed, It has broke into two rebel kingdoms. The Ul Faruk Caliphate in central spain and the Amal-El-Darum North African Caliphate. The Christians of Spain have prayed for this day and the Christians in Valencia took power and after overthrowing the heathens submitted to the holy pope. The great Scots tried to take the city of London from the English nobles, but their army was repelled and in the counter attack, the nobles took East Anglia. Jerusalem tried to invade Papal Crete but the small garrison easily defeated the puny Jerusalem army. Thy years go by slow....slow

The End of the Slavic Crusade
Emperor Basil Palaiologos in the year of our lord 1455, officially ended the Slavic Crusade, closing another chapter in the wars of unification known as the Northern Crusades. Basil himself led the last conquest, going as far as to fight in the Seige of Nis, the final conflict in the camapaign. Orthodox peoples everywhere rejoice as their brothers and sisters are united around them under the Patriarch. The corrupt plant known as Opium has been declared a drug, and outlawed in the Byzantine Empire as well as all Orthodox nations.
Now Basil reclines on his throne, secure in the knowledge that all of the Balkans are his. He casts his sights abroad however, and has poured all funds of the state into researching larger, longer lasting ships that may withstand voyages to other continents. He predicts that within the next two years, there will be a breakthrough and the Byazntine banner will wave overseas.
