@The Nations of Asia- Would you all be interested in drawing borders?
@ Kingdom of the Dragon- I will have the parts of Indochina I already own plus the two in that unsightly gap between my main provinces and Vietnam, the east coast of India, and the islands of Indonesia, minus the Philippines.
Once again, Malacca expands. In this eventful time, the first major event to occur was the assimilation of the rest of the Island of Sumatra. The rebel state that had broken off there had always had very close ties to Malacca, even as it became a vestigial state. In fact, a royal marriage had been made between the two long, long ago. Now, it payed off as Malacca inherited the reminder of Sumatra.
In the north, the Cambodians had made true on their promise to capture Vietnam for Malacca, or at least most of it. Enough for Malacca. However, there was a small area filled with extremely hostile natives who had not taken kindly to rightful Malaccan superiority, and they threatened to split Vietnam from the empire. Therefore, decided the Sultan, a larger army must be raised to protect against these barbarians. Expansion
would continue, no matter what these natives thought.
But these years were not strictly military. Singapore became a bustling center of trade, the link between the lucrative Indian Ocean trade and the Far East. With this influx of Western and Eastern trade, new ideas were spreading. In particular, many shipwrights were creating new ships that could go farther and farther. One lofty goal was to create a ship which could set out from Singapore and land in Africa with no stops. Though that dream is far off, progress is being made.
