The Iran-Iraq war was commonly referred to as "the (Persian) Gulf War" when it was ongoing and for some time after. Desert Storm/Shield's war was called "the Second (Persian) Gulf War" early on. Iran-Iraq's "Gulf War" name is still used by some today.

I would consider connected to the other wars, as the US did participate indirectly, and all three were the legacy of Hussein.

From what I have heard, the missiles they tested where meant to be modern but they have been said to be a decade old. So much for striking fear in to the hearts of your enemies, but they might die of laughter.

so does Iran nowadays. the Russian sell them weapons, as the Russians sold the Irasqis weapons in the 80s. now why are the Iranina armys Russians weapons of 2008 worse than the Iraqi armies Russian weapons of 1990? Are you seriously telling me you think the Irinian armed forces nowadays would perform worse than Iraqs in 1990? Because thats not what you said a few months back.

For one, the Russians sell them a lot less of them (again, look at their airforces).

We sold the Iraqis many more weapons than the Soviets did.

Please inform me what we sold the Iraqis that outweighs the thousands and thousands of Soviet tanks and APCs (not to mention millions of the Iraq standard service rifle, the verniable Soviet AK47). What planes made up the Iraq airfoce again, F-4s or Migs or verious types?

It is exactly what I said. Iran's position is not stronger because of their training or inventory, but because of their geography. Hell, in they could fight ten times worse than the Iraq's but still have a greater opportunity to cause damage none the less.
