Actually defense company stock does increas in peace time too. You know when they take tech and switch it over to civilian use. Kinda like how Lockheed Martin makes red light cameras.

I'm intimately familiar with Made-in-America military hardware, and have had the opportunity to inspect British, Australian, Japanese, and Russian military hardware. Believe me when I tell you that on a scale of one to ten (ten being best) the Russian stuff was about a four and the rest were between seven and ten.

I actually watched something about the people that make most of the equipment for our military. They hold (atleast the ones in this documentary) the same view as most workers did in WWII, that this could one day safe their family members lives. As alot of them are related to military personal. So by that I would be safe to guess that US military hardware would be beyond good.

My experience is (mostly) with naval ships - Japanese use US-licensed systems like AEGIS, but by and large build their own. Australia is definitely more in the "buy from elsewhere" zone, but they are very good with maintenance. Actually everyone is, except for the Russians.

So, Russia wants to be our friend, claims the Cold War is over, and acuses of the US of trying to start it up again, but then rushes to give Iran a weapon that can take out stealth aircraft - which is specifically targeted at the USAF - and its still somehow the Americans' fault? To comment on the OP.

The S-400 is as the article states a fantastic missile system. And will certainly pose a serious threat to any American attack on Iran, but will not matter militarily unless Iran can deploy in sufficient numbers to make a difference. Which I doubt they will be able too... So in short if properly deployed these could mess up a surgical strike, but in a full scale shooting war they would be overwhelmed easily.
