Iraq is facing a possible name change, as part of the upcoming constitution which will be put to a referendum. Below are two possible examples.

Islamic state of Iraq: Suggests there is no room for Christians or Atheists, which could represent difficulty for Iraqis who had previously enjoyed a fair amount of freedom in religious practice.

Federation of Iraq: Suggests that there are groups which are currently excluded and must be brought under the control of Bagdad. There is indeed one such group and this name could provoke long-lasting resentment.

What do you think Iraq should call itself?

Anyway, i think the islamic one is just asking for trouble. I see no reason to change it in fact.

Actually, splitting up Iraq is not a bd idea. It is a typical ((post)-colonial?) dream to think people with different culture/religion/background/descent should be forced to live peacefully in one country.

Didn't work in India, not in Yugoslavia, and also not really that well in Belgium.
