Iraqi PM denounces Isreal

I agree that it is hypocritical.
Also i did not like at all the part about "Israel is our greatest ally" ( :hmm: ).
Their point about Israel being "the only democracy in the region" is not very good, since obviously the iraqi Pm did not condemn its political system, but its killings of lebanese civilians.

Btw: your spelling of "hypocrisy" is correct. I have seen that word being slain many times in these forums, written as "hypocracy". -cracy (comes from the greek 'kratos' -'-kratia' (κράτος, -κρατία) means "power of", and is the same word as that found in other complex words, like aristocracy, democracy and so on. But it has nothing at all to do with the word 'hypocricy" (υποκρισία). Hypo is greek for "under" and crisy comes from the greek krinein (κρίνειν) which means "to judge". So it probably translates loosely to "judge less (that you are capable of doing)". A hypocrite, afterall, would be doing just that: choose to not see things which in other circumstances he would have readily seen ;)

So we give them democracy and free speech and all that, and get pissed when they make thier own policy? :goodjob:

It's the american way!

Whats with the hypocrisy here? Why is there outrage? Whats the point?

Any governmental representative should only express opinions validated by the US, this is in truth what democracy is all about, freedom of speech that is contrary to the US line has no place in a democratic country and anyone who tries to excercise it should be dealt with accordingly ;) Oh dear. Most people in England are expressing concerns about Israel, at least those I have talked to, none are supporting Israel, maybe we should cancel our treaties with the US if we can't tow the line, oh I forgot Tony Blair is coming under a deal of pressure to condemn Israel and to advocate a cease fire from parliament even from his own party, don't worry though Tony's still on board.

Tony Blair IMO is behaving like a true politician, ignoring his grass roots supporters, for the bigger prize, close ties with the US and the perks it brings, it's not exactly cricket but it is usually the norm for English PM's.
