Is Firaxis likely working on a project now?

It's been a long time since we heard anything at all from Firaxis. Last year, when asked about CivV, Sid said "ask me later in the year", but never came back to anyone.

Is there any way to ask Firaxis directly whats happening? Col has been out for months now, still no word on any new project. It would be cool if they could at least let us know if anything is in the works

I wonder if the game magazine websites are paying attention. It would be something of a coup for one to get an exclusive interview at this point, n'est pas?

So: Penny Arcade, Gamespy/IGN, Gamespot, all of you: work on getting a new Sid Meier interview!

The Firaxis FAQ page includes some ways to contact them, including a submission form on the website and a mailing address. I've heard that others here have tried these methods but we might as well keep trying and asking them to be communicative.

TF? What's that?

Take Two sure needs something like a Civ V right now, but I hope they aren't pressuring Firaxis to knock out something half baked.

I read a few days back somewhere (N4G?)
that they are working on "more than one project"...
...civ5 may be one of them...

Bit of an assumption here, but I would take i form that that they are almost certaintly working on CivV now... I just wish they would announce it!

I don't think Civ V should be released too quickly. Patience and building up a greater fanbase is needed.

Look at Sims 2, they've got so many expansions that their audience doesn't even know what's going on.

Popularity doesn't mean Prostitution.

It seems more likely that they'd squeeze as much as they can from the Civ 4 engine first before developping Civ 5. With the renewed Colonization, perhaps SM:AC 2 will come first.

they work on MORE than one project ;)

Surely SMAC2 could be one of them - for this year to be published...
...at the same time they could have announcement on civ V...

i'd be surprised, frankly, after the reception col got

After the reception Col got or after the product Col WAS when it shipped?

The licence of SMAC is not the property of Firaxis, if i'm right.

Yeah you are right, now that I think of it. In any case, seriously, from a business POV, Firaxis released a modern version of one old game which has been very badly received, why would they do it again when they can work on somehting else?

How about something completely new and original? Has Firaxis been stuck on sequels and remakes of old titles? Try something NEW and FRESH!!
