To me,

Guantanamo Bay naval base is one of the most terrible examples of how the rest of the world is powerless, or disinterested towards Americas blatant disregard towards Human Rights.

They call the counties of Asia for their failure to be humanitarian.. but WTH is with Gitmo?

No, Guantanamo is kicking justice in the balls, and forcing it to give you sexual favours.

And then selling the video on the net?

As far as I am concerned, the United States government is abusing human rights and acting like a dictorship by ignoring a humans right to a fair trial.

They should either give a trial those held there or release them with an apology.

I'm with Davo on this one. If this were truly a war, then the opposite would be true. Charges of prisoner abuse aside of course.

Question for the Americans - how often does Guantanamo feature in your news/media?

Here in the UK it is mentioned fairly often, always someone critizing it and often someone calling for it's closure.

Do you have proof that they are enemy though?

Or does being Muslim make you an enemy?

Thankyou, they're POWs. Now give them their rights.

And as far as I know, the war on Afghanistan ended long ago.

Do you have any proof they are not the enemy? Do you?

But I would say being a muslim with an AK47 in your hand firing at US troops might make you an enemy...but I could be wrong...

And what POW rights do you mean? Health care? They have that. Food? They have that. Shelter? They have that.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Can someone please post a summary of Human Rights? It would be fun to highlight those that the Prisoners at Gitmo arn't getting

Do they have a member of the clergy of their faith present?
Nope.

Are they paid by the US army?
Nope.

Are they given the right to excusrsions and such?
Nope.

Are they in conditions at least equal to Amrican soldiers?
Nope.

Do the American soldiers salute the internees?
Nope.

That's just for starters.

Look above, I'm just consulting my copy of Geneva for more.

Great, we have to proove innocence now?

How about spending a night in the same house as some suspected Al Caida members in Pakistan?

Well yeah, my 'proof' is that alot of them were picked up in 'sweeps' where genarally everyone with a visable gun (and lets not forget the entire population of Afghanistan owns one) was picked up and taken in.

Also I don't think you understand how alot of these people found tehre way into US hands. They were not fighting US troops, in fact alot of them were actually handed to US forces by the Nortehrn Alliance troops.

Okay, my copy of the Geneva conventions isn't loading, I'll do it later.

EDIT: Actually, I've found something workable.
