No need to apologize. I'm Tlingit. Southeastern Alaska - Juneau/Skagway/Ketchikan area. Genetically related to the Haida Indians (the only difference between the tribes is geographic location) (In fact, we intermarry with them, have the same religious beliefs (at least before the missionaries showed up) and the same clan set up.) and part of the Athabascan council. From what I understand, we're also part of the same group that the Navaho's are. But I may be a bit mixed up on that.

My point is that it isn't that easy to tell. There are plenty of minorities with origins form all around the world in the East. This even includes the South. Florida has a decent sized Cuban population. There are African Americans all throughout the east. I have seen many Western and Eastern Asians in the New Jersey area. Alot of people also have native American blood. I know a decent amount of people that are more than one color (not inlcuding my family). I don't know to many people that have only one nation of origin, here. People also have a vast amount of different religions in the East. Remember, New York received alot of immigrants and there is that slavery thing that happened in the South. Also, there were refugees from Cuba. So, it is really hard to tell which side is more diverse. I have been to the West. It doesn't look more diverse to me.

You don't get much more diverse than New York. The East coast is just as diverse as the West coast. Chicago is very very diverse as well. Basically, all major cities are.

Well, we have affirmative action, which is racist to all.
They used to say that the blacks couldn't speak properly and should therefore be slaves. They used to say that the chinese had a complicated language and therefore they were dishonest and should be subdued. Almost no one has those ideas anymore, but now they say that the arabs have a mentality and culture that are lacking connection to the reality and should therefore be bombed and invaded.

Affirmative Action is stupid not just because it is unfair. It is stupid because it propogates itself and its unfairness. Giving them more aid/help for them to achieve is one thing, giving them lower standards is completely different. This is analogous to the difference between teachign someone to fish and giving someone a fish.
