Is there really racism in America?

of COURSE racism is a problem in the US. Quite a few of the kids at my school (a private one, for that matter) are very rascist. My immediate family is against rascism, but as you go farther back (my grandparents) you can definately see it. Obviously, it isn't as bad as it is in the middle east, and there have been great strides in the past few decades against rascism, but it is still a lingering problem for the nation.

Well in my town its a growing idea in the kids and adults too. Its not lingering.

compared to the 1950's south, it is lingering no matter how much or how little it is presently in different places. are there lynchings in your town just because of race? are there shootings just because of race? are blacks forced by law to go to different schools than whites? i think not.

The klu klaks klan was mostly dismentaled a long time ago. Some white supremacy groups claim to be it's heirs, but non of them (r even all of them combined) is nearly as big as the KKK used to be. The so called KKKs are now mostly living off making provocations and are nothing more than a small group of screw balls.

Racism still flows deeply and unconciously in America. My first ever eye opener was to see with my own eyes police officers act racist. I remember just a year earlier I was debating a girl in current issues about whtther the Bremerton P.D. was racist. I didn't think they were. A year later, I found out.

The first time I saw how wrong being conservative really was.

why are you using 'gay' like it is a bad thing? you must be a homophobe, which is just as bad as being a rascist. i'm not gay, but my mom is a lesbian and it offends me to see people use 'gay' like there is something wrong with it. by the way, at my high school, being rascist will get you thrown in a trashcan. so you must have gone to a very backward high school. i feel sorry for that one kid. by the way, show the rascists at your school my avatar.

however, i agree with you that we shouldn't give blacks and other minorities free stuff. we should just give all blacks $50,000 to apologize for slavery, that way no one can b**** about, "it isn't fair to judge blacks on an equal level as whites. give blacks lower standards."

you also can't say, "black people act this way" since not all black people act a certain way. some act like rappers, but not all. if i heard your friend say that i would have kicked his rasist a**.

Look up racism in the dictionary.

You probably mean that you don't do violence because of someone's race, but hating/judging someone just by their skin color IS racism/makes you a racist.

Racist violence nowadays is pretty rare in the U.S., but there of course is the isolated incidents. A few nutjobs doesn't define the society.

Racist views/stereotypes however, is vastly more commonplace. People may have their own views/thoughts about something but don't act upon it.

Not that i'm siding with him, but Homosexuals are a monority. Because they are a minority, some would considor them as weird(different from the norm). So in this sense, he could just be meaning strange.

On the subject, i have no idea how much racism there is in America. I only know what i see in films, and since most of it is a bunch of crap, i don't know anything
