Is this the end of liberalism?

Following the youtube rabbit hole from the video civman posted, I just learned that Catlyn Jenner is a Conservative Republican and Anti-gay marriage:eek:... I'm going to a party today with some Muslim relatives and I think maybe I will bring it up... Awesome debates will ensue :yup:

Also, the South Park "Safe Space" song... Hilarious

I'm starting to think that the answer to the "where i my safe space?" question is the same as the answer to the "what can you do without involving other people?" question Hygro asked (can't remember if it was in this thread)... The answer is "your thoughts" or "inside your own mind."

What about your house? Shouldn't you be safe inside your own house?

Sorry, just trying to be difficult here.

And you have Muslim relatives? Are they converts?

If you are a child, yes, but that "safety" is physical safety not ideological safety... and it is provided by your parents/guardians. As an adult you are not safe in your home from, for example... your husband criticizing your choice of shoes or your wife telling you're putting on weight and need to work out or your roommate telling you that your political positions are wrong or that smoking is bad for you. Adults don't really have much of a reasonable expectation that they will not be criticized or faced with opposing viewpoints.
Sorry, just trying to be difficult here.
Love it... keep it coming.:D
And you have Muslim relatives? Are they converts?
Yes, I do, Sunnis. And no, they are not converts, my Grandfather converted to Islam (I believe in his 20's) and raised all of his daughters (including my mother) as Muslim from birth. My aunts in turn raised all their children as Muslim from birth. My mom later converted to Christianity. Granddad died very recently so all the remaining Muslims are lifelong ones. My mother's kids are the only ones in this particular (Granddad's) branch of my family that were not raised Muslim.

Black-clad protesters gathered in front of Dartmouth Hall, forming a crowd roughly one hundred fifty strong. Ostensibly there to denounce the removal of shirts from a display in Collis, the Black Lives Matter collective began to sing songs and chant their eponymous catchphrase. Not content to merely demonstrate there for the night, the band descended from their high-water mark to march into Baker-Berry Library.

"“F*** you, you filthy white f***s!” “F*** you and your comfort!” “F*** you, you racist s***!”"

Resentful black activists and their comrades also started a backlash against the huge public sympathy for the Parisian victims of the Islamist terror war. On Sunday, they used Twitter’s hashtag #F***Paris to reveal their emotional reaction to their loss of attention.

#F***Paris those same mother:) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :):) :) :) :)ers wouldn’t give a f*** about these racist white boys over here terrorizing Black folks

Reducing the Left to "liberalism" is a red herring.

Scratch a liberal, find a fascist.

But the "right," needs no scratching at all.

This is the lefts ugly racist baby. Now own it.

I do agree as far as, these SJWs are exibiting many similar behaviours and sentiments to that of a fascist. Liberalism is dead and the left has killed it.

And, civman, the #blacklivesmatter movement is hardly liberalism.

Besides, rich, literate trashbag bloggers don't get to decide how people express their anger -- or are YOU trying to ban speech YOU don't like?

Sine when was SJWs fighting against Western white supremacy and institutionalized racism and imperialism by enforcing "safe spaces" free from "micro aggressions" and "white priviledge" not liberalism?

You guys made this Frankenstein. These SJWs are only regurgitating what they have been taught.

And no I'm not saying they shouldn't be allowed to say this stuff at all. In fact it's quite entertaining to watch the left eat itself. These people are mad at the universities and the Democrats - looks like leftists have gotten themseleves into a position where they have no good options.

South Park's take on the situation was to destory the PC Frat House with 200 Pregnant Mexican Women, taco launchers, 200 illegal Syrian Children, and yes Jared Fogle.
PCA Frat House was seen in the Season Nineteen episode, "Stunning and Brave". http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/PCA_Frat_House

I'll add the video if I can find it, but YouTube removes any videos that aren't supportive of illegal Mexican or Syrian immigrants.

civman, are you ready to explain why in your model there's a 200-engineer job market limit? You've had quite a few days to think about it.

Either you don't understand what a hypothetical example is, or you misread.

Either way I am done discussing that with you because I don't believe you have any intentions of having a legitimate discussion about it, since you've had more than enough opportunities to respond to my questions, but have chose not to. Everyone has moved on from that topic pages ago.

Since socialism wasn't liberalism and culural marxism wasn't socialism. You're just massively off here. You may as well call the republicans monarchists.

Following the youtube rabbit hole from the video civman posted...

I think the main message in the episode was when Butters was in the hospital from all of the political correctness. I think this was making the point that the PC liberal culture is causing a lot of damage to society and individual people in general.

"Oh no! Reality's here! He's come to crash the party!"

Here's another clip I thought was pretty funny:

You only had one question: how does college education contribute to economic growth? I was very excited to get us to that point!

You're using a hypothetical example to try to prove a real world point. I'm trying to map your hypothetical's arbitrary limitation to real-world causes of that limitation. I gave you two avenues.

The problem is that if you don't have an academic foundation to understand economic growth but you want to speak the language of economics (supply and demand), I was ready to give you my time to help you understand.

Kaitzilla already called our conversation interesting after our pause so please consider that we're speaking to an audience and not just to each other.

It struck me Hygro, that the apparent suggestion that the problem of 300 unemployed engineers could be solved merely with some investment of capital to suitably employ them was suspect. What would you do with 300,000 unemployed blacksmiths? At some point surely you have to admit that your excess of a skillset may not be solvable by adjusting demand.

Sure, which is why I suggested it could be a supply-side problem as well, but we'd have to stipulate what that supply-side problem was. Are blacksmiths the limit of your model's technology? Do people wish they had more metal-worked products? Is there enough iron being mined to make them potentially useful? The question is why are there 300,000 unemployed blacksmiths in your scenario? You can't answer it by saying "they're blacksmiths" without some added assumptions.

In the case of engineers it's pretty simple: they each keep inventing things the other engineers want; they all pay for each others' productions and inventions with their own products and inventions.

There's a reason labor markets loosely conform to society's needs despite population and technological growth....

Seconded in that this is an interesting line of discussion and I'd like to hear more.
