Isn't it about time?

barbarian, lol - all you see is barbarians (I meant this in a good way, but I think barbarian is a bad choice to have as the worst, and if you didn't mean it to be the worst sorry for my babbling.)

Consider your babble pardoned. It's not meant to be the 'worst', it's meant to be the 'joke' response or perhaps it means 'undecided'. :)

(But there's also the grain of literalness meant. Maybe some people do equate 0.16 with countless swarms of barbarians. I know the Sailors' Dirge was unpopular with some.)

I picked barbarian, just because the barbs seems much deadlier now, not just more numerious. In my first game with .16 I've been gettign swarmed by skeletons, lizardmen, and hordes of orcs from turn 11 on. I had to go into Worldbuilder and delete some of the barrows and ruins to have any hope of survival.. they seem a little too, well, common, or my luck is just bad to have so many nearby.

But anyways, the worst part is, with the AI update I can't just stick a promoted unit on a hill, in a forest by my border somewhere, and let them all die attacking him.. now they just go around him and pillage away, which has been driving me nuts. Damn you, smarter barbs, damn you I say..

Anyways, love the update. My only (real) complaint is that, again, the barrows and ruins seem to be a little more common than I would like.

Where`s the "addictive" button?

Yeah, the new AI is noticably better. It's gotta be on the Top Ten Improvemetns list. Some other candidates:

Assassins! Damn them! Damn them all. Playing Malakim it did not take me long to come to hate them. I've never lost so many Priests and highly-promoted units. Damn assassins killed 'em while they were wounded.

Priests Their new STR 4 seems to be working well.

Hidden Nationality There's some work left to be done on this, I'm sure, but it sure is fun to be able to keep up harrassment even during peacetime. :)

Naval Units I hear there are some possible AI problems. That aside, the new choices are such a fun improvement over 0.15.

Just to mention a few. :)

I said Barbarian... because the Barbs seem to be playing better in 0.16... a good thing, IMO. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to run 1 Warrior per city builder... as the AI's usually quite pacifistic.

A real pleasure, for two reasons.

The first is, like a lot of others players, the IA more pacific. Still agressive with the option "aggressive IA", but without this option the IA stopped attacked me without reason. But it still invade my kingdom if I forget to build a defensive army (but no need to build big army) or if I'm weak and refuse to paid tribute.
And the barbarians are fun now. There some problem, like the Dirge who don't sail a lot and the barrow on 1x1 island creating a stack of 100 useless skeletons, but it's fun to have barbarian spawns that are not town, so easier to destroy.

The second reason is the Lanun. I love the Lanun, and I love their heroes, at least Lanun have heroes !

And I forgot a third reason : the new civics. I found them better like this.

And the modifications on improvements are good too, even if there is still modifications to do on resources to have a better management of them (more sea resources, better use of whales, wine and ivory, and a lot of details like these).

But there is one black point in the v0.16. The Hidden Nationality is fun with mercenaries and pirates. But the tiger are really really annoying ! The IA spawn hundreds of them, for free (at least mercenaries cost some production...), and spend his time to kill lonely worker or weak units. And give town defenders a lot of XP without war...

anyone liking some of the new unitgraphics... perhaps?! no?... not one?!

What? No option for "Bull" ?

Yeah, I love these unique graphics for each civilisation. It's a real improvement from the basic game.

I'm not sure which all are new but I'm pretty sure the Orc maceman is new, and it's cool. And the Malakim pikeman looks great. Are teh Doviello Whatchamajiggits (Maceman equivalent) new? With the ram's horn helm? Very cool. For my money the art is so far above expectations its rediculous. :goodjob:

yea most of the doviello are new, they were great fun for me to create, as the amurites and the whole bunch of orcs were, too :)

"For my money", that was. Talk about a fantasy! It was probably cruel to lead you on like that.

Nice to know I've not lost the touch! :satan:
