Why not just do two really massive BTs of multiple hundreds of years a la AFSNES I, that get us up to the sixth to fifth centuries BC? (Because until then, the world isn't really suited to rapid play. Most of it isn't, anyway.)

Regarding the navy, it seems to me that the Guo during this time were really much more land-focused; thus I spent the money on the army rather than the navy.

The purges, though, probably should have been added--I plead tiredness for that, and rest assured that it's been noted.

Eh. I'd prefer to give more control over cultural development to the players. Besides, the next turn will bring us right up to the Bronze Age Collapse anyway, so it'll give you something to do.

But after 1200 or so the Hellenic area doesn't have a whole lot to do politically for the next six hundred odd years. Which is good timing, because I'll be driving from here to Louisiana on Monday and would likely not be able to send orders even if they were needed. You want I should send you some vague orders tacked onto the end of the upcoming ones that talk about Hellenic Dark Age stuff, or do you already know enough about that?

Okay, order guidelines. In addition to what you normally spend, I'd like you to write something (which doesn't need to be more than few sentences) for each of the three objectives described here.

Note that 1)Societal Expansion may describe specific wars, contrary to the post I linked to, and that 2)Societal Entropy need not be something that will happen no matter what, but could instead be in the form of contingencies. A mix of the two is of course preferred.

Also, you may if you wish, though it isn't encouraged, disregard spending orders entirely and just give me the objectives, which I'll do my best to translate into spending.

Sucks, but all good things must come to an end. I was really enjoying this NES but I guess it was inevitable that I would screw up somewhere, lol. Hadir Unicus was a lot of fun coming up with history for it and everything, but it seems I wasn't able to keep it together .

And with that, my short time on the internet between camping trips is about to come to a close. I might be able to get on later, but I doubt it. As of now, I'm done with this NES, but might come back later.

Rise of the Yu: Historical book by Zhen Fan Zi

Years ago, there are 4 States on the Yellow River. The Guo, a group of Peoples devastated by the floods of antiqity and stronger than other states. Wei, conquerors of Zhou due to their armies stuck in Guo, is barbarian and weak. The new Dynasty, Yu (Jade), lead by his friends against the Wei Tyrant is named so for the sharp Jade Daggar-Axes they gained from a mysterious nation to the south. Then, there was Shan, a barbarian kingdom to to the West.

The years started with smokes of revolution. Yu and his companions took over Nan Yang 's armoury. Then, the city garrison all voluntered to his army. He reorganized them with a new curiousity: A composite bow. And sent them out. They ambushed a small army sent to quash a 'small revolt' and charged the lines. Then they Set up a kingdom. Years of defensive war later, the king's son married the Daughter of Shan. Who became more civilized then the wei who where reduced to wild raids in attack and turning tail in defense. With this 'Final Alliance' They charged, their armies growing with young presents joining the army. They also paid for every grain of rice taken as they took the city of Chang'an Again.

After the war they built a series of forts and vassalized the true barbarians in exchange for their style of government. Today, Year 673 A.Z. (After Zhou Revitalization), will be the year we move down the river again. May our armies be strong!

(This might be a biased writing but is the best found from that era. Orders soon!)

Well, they are ancients. And what they are talking about is not a 'cross bow' in a modern sense but a 'Cross' between wood bows and other types. More of a 'Composite' bow. But hey, they have a wierd way of writing.

I am Xoluc Guo Changchao Emperor of the Guo people. ( note I have not given a temple or post-humous name as he is not dead at the time of writing.) I came to power 15 years ago after my farther died in the Wei invasion. Since the sucessful repulsion of the invasion I have been planning revenge...

Knock, Knock. The emperor quickly hid his scroll on which he was writing and beckoned, " Enter my servent."
The general stepped inside, careful not to look directly at the emperor and fell to one knee, " My Your Imperial Majesty, may you reign over the Guo people..."
"Yes, yes just get on with the report."
"But my Emperor I still have twenty of your titles to go, it would be against protocal and if anyone found out I could be executed. Let me finish it won't take long..."
" You would disobey a direct command from your emperor. I should have you flogged for such insolence. Now the report!"
"Yes master. We have asembled over two thousand swordmens fully trained, over four thousand archers, the elite, and ten thousand spearmen, trained. Also we have raised the small chariot corp but that comes to one thousand men badly trained. I would strongly advise that we ommit the chariot corp. All the supplies have been gathered and are ready, the men are waiting for the order and the scout reports are in."
"Very good, ommit the chariot corp and prepare to attack in five years time."
" But my lord we are ready now."
" I know but the Wei know that as well if we wait we have more chance of caughting them off-gaurd. Now obey your orders."
" Yes my lord."
The general turned to leave, " Oh and general report to the main drill yard straight away I think you need to be reminded about who is the supeior here." The general gulped and left. He was flogged for ten minutes before he could leave.

After the general left and the ship reports had been dealt with, Changchao returned to his apartment and spoke with his mother. " Mother the aristocrats have grown bold again what should I do?"
" Why begin to remove their power of course. They clearly cannot be trusted with it. How are our projects coming along?" replied the Empress Dowager.
"Very well mother."
"Good, good."


Source wikipedia. I have tried to keep this in keeping with the history of chinese emperors but if you see any glaring mistakes feel free to complain.

Note: Jal I have no clue as to the size of my army so do not use these figures as the one's for the actual invasion. This is just a story!

Do whatever you want. But Dowanger is a late 19th century and early 20th century Empress. It's ok. I need to look at wiki soon.

Also: Here is ratio of my armies during the rebelion against Wei. 50 Swords Masters: Elite and official.
500 Archers, Professionaly trained. 200 Dagger Axemen. Drilled and well trained. 20 Captured Chariots with crew, Professionally trained. 100 Composite Bow Archers, Drilled and trained. 2000 Peasents with Dagger ax, Sword, Knife, or Spear, with a shield. Eager drilled but barely trained. Together. 3000 original troops of the rebelition when they ambushed the lost army. Just a fun fact . Here will be a picture of a Rebelion Era Dagger Ax made from pieces of polished Jade daggers and a sharpened Jade dish. Yes, jade is brittle, Yea, jade isn't sharp: but the thing is, jade is used in war for some time and as serimonial stuff. Just talking to myself!

Also: Nice picturing of Guo life! I just posted a historical narrative. I should bow but: I still have the mandate until he recalls it. Please! I want to know how that dynasty survived um: 800 years? Or is it just that they have lots of loyal brothers and sons that all know the status quo and never dare to cross it?
