Just to clear up why I use a dash instead of an 'o' when writing the word g-d, it is because in Judaism there is the belief that His name is so holy that for there to be any chance of it being erased from anything is unthinkable. Thus, it is a Jewish custom to write His name with a dash instead of an 'o' so that His name does not appear. Hope that helps to clear things up. BTW, I'm surprised you didn't notice it before.

I kinda assumed that...though I once learned that it was only the name "Yahweh" that was not supposed to be printed. Or is that just Hebrew for God?

that particuler word, "Yahweh" can be (and is) written in the torah; however, it is my understanding that every instance it is eoncourted, it is replaced with the word "Adonai" (a generic term for holy lord, or God- why people choose to not spell words is "god" when its only a mere title for the Jewish god is beyond. perhaps based on a faulty understanding of the soem fo the religious precepts)

In the Torah, G-d's name does appear. Since the entirety of the Torah, when writing a Torah, is considered to abide by the same rules as writing the name of G-d (Jews consider the Torah to be the exact words G-d spoke to Moses on Sinai), it is very difficult to write one. This is the reason that you often hear of Jews treating the Torah in an almost 'idolotrous' (I hate that word) manner. As for the reason His name is abrieveated in English as well as Hebrew, it is because alot of Jewsih law is alot about being careful. For instance, the law about milk and meat in the Torah is that "Thou shalt not cook a calf in its mothers milk" this has been extended by the Rabbis to be just "thou shalt not mix dairy and meat of any kind". So, when Jews spread to area that do not speak Hebrew, they simply extended the older rules in order to be careful. Make sense?

Erez- I'm guessing that since your in Israel, you haven't heard of the rule that we use. In the States at least, we apply the same rule for His actual name to the word 'G-d'.

I have finished updating the city list on the front page. It will be continually updated with your cities that are the largest and more important in the world.

A few points about the past postings:

Much much much much thanks to Disenfranchised for making the map with terrain names. That really helped me and saves me tons of time, you dont even know.

People in different parts of the world, meaning Vyzkae to the north to Memnonar and Olmecia to the south, will specialize in their own ways. Whether it means a stable, more easier-to-control nation to specializing in a product that is in high demand in a more "developed" nation, you will have your cumoffins.

And stop the spam. I dont mind a few sentences or even a small paragraph of discussion (keep it at least historical) before an IC post, but do not devote whole posts to it.
