also, since jason aint online, i'll tell you what he'll tell you when he gets online (though he would proly be a bit less blunt).
ignoring the fact that mexico is taken, these were your orders:
- Expand NorthWest with the army
- Build a new army in the capitol

when you say, "NorthWest" i assume you mean the territory named "MAZ". its better to be exact with your orders.
assuming that you want to take the MAZ territory with the army Mexico would start with.
then you have 6 gold. may i sugest something to the effect of buying 2 more armies and sending them out to get 2 more terriotries (COA and OAX for example).

you're playing the game as you would a storyNES. IIRC you did the same thing in RNES and france quickly got overpowered by Spain. I dont mean to critisize. i'm just trying to point out the difference between this type of game and the ones you're used to playing.

EDIT: post got cut off. and i realized how to explain it much better.

we are all here (in CFC) initialy cause of Civilization. well unlike the Story NESs these board ones are a lot like civilization. you have to give orders to EACH of your UNITS independently.
you cant just tell CIV to "expand north" same here. you have to order the army you started with to go to here (think of it as a settler). and give orders to all the new units you build.
and until they die you have to keep giving every unit orders every turn.

@Roddy: Thanks very much for helping puglover out. Also, Japan will have to make do with what they have, I did put them under the hard category . Plus, you can move throughout the home islands without a boat, there are three total provinces they can get to without a boat, so its not too bad.

@UKnem: Very happy to see you back! This ought to be one hell of a game.

@all: Currently I have 11/15 orders. Since it is necessary to do the first few updates I may move for the other 4 if they are not in by the time I get back from going out for dinner (most likely around 7-8pm PST). Or I might just wait until tomorrow, I havn't made up my mind.
