Right, I'm going to tell you here and now that I've cocked up, due to my misunderstanding of how Drafting works (I've never used it). Read on...
TURN 0 - Inherited
Looks like all our big production cities are churning out units...good stuff. I don't think the attack will happen in my turnset though (in hindsight it probably could have).
TURN 1 - 1823AD
Orleans finishes Infantry...I'm tempted to go for Ironworks here but I can knock out 6 Artillery units in the same amount of time so I go for that instead.
I have designated Arretium as our Missionary Farm as it can knock them out in 2 turns. They should be shipped over as well as the troops.
Asyut finishes a Harbour...bit of a cruddy space filler this one...starts a Courthouse.
These Workers are obviously a Railroading crew, but I think they can be put to better use. They should be Railroading from Orleans/Lyons as our two biggest producers, to the military pickup point at Alexandria. With that in mine, the crew heads for Orleans.
The Settler at Alexandria is put on a Galleon with some units and heads off to merry England...Liverpool looks to be the obvious drop point...we can pull into Liverpool, unload and the units will still have their movement intact.
There are a couple of Infantry near Cicei. I'm assuming they're for dealing with Mehmed's Cavalry stack?
Another Worker crew starts Railroading from Lyons to Alexandria.
TURN 2 - 1824AD
Peter's got himself a Great General! Peter also offered a trade for Communism and 150 Gold for our Electricity, and although State Property seems a good idea, it was way too one sided a deal so I told him to sod off.
I noticed there's a Settler in the stack in England, so I pull back the Galleon with the Settler in it for other duties...
TURN 3 - 1825AD
Peter's getting pushy and asks us to war with Lizzy...not likely.
TURN 4 - 1826AD
Cumae finishes a Grocer and starts an Observatory.
Peter takes Canterbury!
I'm thinking as soon as Industrialism comes in, Draft Tanks from every city, ship them over to England, lower Research to zero, declare, flatten Edirne, settle, then upgrade a tonne of units in the old stack before putting Research back up (oh how wrong am I?)
TURN 5 - 1827AD
I'm settling here so no-one else does...it's a reasonable city...maybe the borders of the surrounding cities will pop and Peter's stack will disappear!
Aryan is Christian...that's Germany completely converted...unless there are some cities elsewhere.
TURN 6 - 1828AD
Freddy asks that we cancel deals with Peter. Now, I don't want to annoy Peter any more than necessary, so I decline. Our relationship with Freddy is so good that it stays at Friendly.
Peter starts a Golden Age!
Setia is founded and starts a Theatre...a Christian Missionary is on the way.
TURN 7 - 1829AD
Liz offers Corn for Fish, and I see no reason to say no.
The Railroading Workers have annoyingly not done as I asked them (bug?), so I set them off to do it again.
TURN 8 - 1830AD
Oxford Uni finishes in Rome.
TURN 9 - 1831AD
Setia is Christian.
TURN 10 - 1832AD
Industrialism finally comes in...what next? Flight and Rocketry seems a good idea as Mech Infantry is on a long path we haven't gone down. Feel free to veto this if there's a better idea. It revealed Aluminium in four places around our empire. One already hooked up, one Mined but not Roaded, and two more in our borders but not Mined.
(The moment of dreaded realisation of my vast mistake...)
Oh...crap...I didn't know you can only Draft 3 units per turn, and that it's still Infantry. Due to my complete lack of knowledge of how Drafting works, I have spent 10 turns plodding along when I should have been Drafting 3 units per turn...that's potentially 30 units I've not built that I could have. I thought I could Draft every city for a Tank.
I bang my head on the desk a couple of times and Draft three Infantry that are on the way to Alexandria...Drafted from Rome and the two closest cities (not Pisae)...like I say, I thought I was going to Draft every city, hence starting with Rome and working my way around the continent.
