Define "weaker economy"?!

Less resilient to shocks?
highly volatile?

Sure.

I, on the other hand, don't like endless deficits, a weaker economy, economic instability, rollbacks in individual liberty, a tax burden shifted towards the poor and middle class, lower wages, and selling out the country to special interests.

But hey, whatever floats your boat.
You prefer flirting with MAD... ok, got it.

Obviously a matter of opinion. I would argue just the opposite.

Didn't Kennedy try to lower taxes? He was also the face of the National Space program, was a fierce advocate of Civil Rights, and was targeted by corrupt organized labor bosses for not being a complete toady to them. What's not to like?

He's the democrat we wish all democrats could be. :D

Reaganomics slowed the rate at which the economy grows, made financial crises much more likely by beginning the deregulation of finance, and made the economy less resilient by running good time deficits.

What about the corrupt election, Bay of Pigs, involvement in the assassinations of foreign leaders, entering the Viet Nam War, defoliation, support of the coup in Iraq, cover-up of health issues and extra-marital affairs?

Oddly, both Kennedy and Reagan resorted to deficit spending, leading to economic prosperity.

Democrat deficit spending = helps the economy
Republican deficit spending = weakens the economy

i mean, do you even try to be objective cutlass?:P

Using the deficit/economy as the standard you must really dislike Obama...

If that were true, why wouldn't he "dislike" the bipartisan Congress that decided to implement the vast majority of those measures even before Obama took office? Why would he only blame Obama for making modest changes which largely saved the American auto industry and many other jobs?

I'm not sure of where I saw/read it, but I think that the Bay of Pigs invasion was mostly planned and prepared under Eisenhower's administration and the beginning stages were already under way before Kennedy took over, and it was more or less kept from him until it was too late to do anything about it. Not sure though.

The Missile Crisis was similar to the bin Laden raid, but the stakes were higher. It should have never happened, but one could hardly say the Soviets wouldn't have done the same thing if the tables were turned.

Though Johnson was really the one who got most of the Civil Rights legislation pushed through, but it never would have happened without either Kennedy being President or Republican support. The fact that it lead to a split in the Democratic party is meaningless. The two parties weren't much different until the 1980's anyway.

I must have missed the missile crisis where the Soviets nearly attacked Turkey before the US backed down over putting missiles there.

Odd that we experienced economic growth...

:twitch:

Should I go drag up my old posts with the charts?

Ok, so, wait, did we have a Congress under Reagan? Or was he supreme dictator and we didn't get a Congress until Bill Clinton (the only other dem pres since) came in and returned the country to proper working order?

If a Repub is in power - the buck stops there
If a Dem is in power - the buck stops wherever we can find Repubs

Nice standard.

It was Eisenhower's admin who planned for it but Kennedy was the man who executed it. He is responsible for that.

I feel Kennedy was an okay president that got immortalized. He managed to set the stage for a lot of the positive developments in the 60's, but he did get us involved in Vietnam and only avoided nuclear armageddon because Kruschev didn't want to end the world.
