"Eight and twenty years ago, our fathers took up arms in the name of liberty. They fought for freedom: freedom of choice, freedom of conscience, freedom to pursue prosperity, and freedom from the tyrrany of a distant and elitist central monarchy. They fought for the ideals of democracy and independence: for a free government of the common people, and a free nation unhindered by the bonds of alliance, allegiance, or servitude. Now these natural freedoms and noble ideals, for which our fathers shed their blood in the fields of battle, are under attack.
The Federalist Party claims to uphold the mantle of liberalism in this country, but they lie. Rather than protect the rights and freedoms of all Americans, Federalists -- worst of all that blustering Briton Hamilton -- would see the industrious farmer and the tireless laborer reduced to the status of servants or peons for the profit of the urban elite. The Federalists do not care about the American people; they care about money and power, and will trample over any common man who stands between them and their il-gotten profits. And yea, they are ill-gotten; the Federalists oligarchs do not work the land, or labor with their hands, or provide any individual service of value to their fellowmen. Nay, they profiteer the toil and sweat and tears of poor workers and poorer immigrants. The Federalists are enemies of liberty; they would return this nation to the bondage of colonial inferiority if they could derive a profit from it -- and they should sell these whole seventeen States eigh to Britain or France, whichever they perceived to offer them greater personal benefit. The Federalists of Hamilton's New York voted to create a Cherokee dominion on lands properly belonging to white farmers. Why? To deny free men the opportunity to better themselves, and reduce them to submitting to the industrial tyrrany of the Federalist elite. The Federalists, led by that would-be-King of Connecticut, voted to create a National Central Bank, an obvious, unmistakable, and intolerable ploy to steal the hard-won savings of the industrious citizen and transfer them into the silk-lined and silver-laiden pockets of rich men in New York, Hartford, and Boston. Furthermore, the Federalists have fought, with all the might their money can buy, to take from the States and local governments their rightful powers of governance, and centralize them in the hands of the Federal government -- a powerful Federal government which, if captured by the likes of Hamilton, will almost surely become the most despotic tyrrany this Continent has ever known.
The Federalists, too, are foes of independence and free trade. It was the Federalist Senators of the North who pushed for this war with Britain. It is they who negotiated the alliance with the Emperor Napoleon, and left our national confederation beholden to the whims of Imperial France. It was the Federalists, beholden to their shipping and manufacturing interests, and ignoring the needs of the vast agrarian majority, who so brilliantly decided to sever trading relations with our greatest commercial partner, and to transfer the focus of our exports to a lesser importer. All this they did at the expense of those good hard-working men who raise their living from the soil.
The Democratic-Republican Party is the answer. The Party of Jefferson stands for freedom, liberty, equality, prosperity, and independence. The Democratic-Republican Party is not in the pocket of manufacturing or banking interests; it represents the good people of America: the farmers, the laborers, the artisans and craftsmen who through their skillful effort make this country great. The Republicans do not pursue strong central government which may take this country down the path to monarchy; they recognize and respect the importance of individual liberty and States' rights. The Republicans will fix the mistakes made by the Federalists of the North: they will restore order on the Canadian front by unifying the campaign army under national command, ensure victory in Canada and the Caribbean, and then move to quickly restore peace and the British trade so necessary to the continued financial security of the farmers of every state.
The Republicans are the party of Competence, Compassion, and the Common Man. Jefferson has proven his qualifications for leadership, and with a vote of confidence to give him four more years, he will lead this country to greatenss without ever forgetting where it came from or from who that greatness springs. The Democratic-Republicans are looking out for your interests."
