Jewdaism... :lol:
I'm not sure why I found that so funny.
i dont know too...:confused:

Nice with the Pyr and Rep ~ we' re starting to roll...

do we have pottery yet? If not, i'd say we should get it..

1: Lobsterboy
2: SpriteSODA --> just played
3: JerichoHill --> UP NOW
4: SkunkDoctor --> on deck
5. Pholkhero

SUUUUUWWWWEEEEEETTTTT~!

Now we can start to settle this island.

Sailing is where we want to go anyways. We don't need ironworking once we bust this fog.

Things I want to do in my turns
1) Build settlers/workers
2) build final fogbusters.

Pursue a commerce sea path. Start getting ready for galleys and caravels...get that navigation bonus!

PYRAMIDS~!!!! Good job all around people! That will help us a TON!

Sadly, I will not be able to play today. Tomorrow is more definite.

Map seems weird...though we had more fogbusters.

Oh, and I reinstalled civ4 and now my autologger works

Can someone update me on how many fogbusters we have?
Since we're at rep, Im going to move any city defenders out to bust more fog!

Not sure how many we have, but I do know that we lost one during my turnset to a barb war roaming around in the west.

Colossus??

why since we're at rep??

Yep. Pottery came in during my turns.

During my turns, I think we had four: one in SE corner of island, one at the mouth of the river W of Orleans, one W of Paris and another moving to a spot between the two in the West. Orleans popped another Warrior during Sprite's turn set, so we should have 5 now. Plus there's a Warrior in Paris to assuage the fear of our French citizens who don't like being left undefended.

Gotcha.

Why do we want to pursue a sea path? Because we're on an island continent, our own. We've got to make sure we can control the seas if we ever want to expand.

That makes the navigation bonus and sea tech very worthwhile!

oh no no...i way saying:
"(perhaps we should build) colossus?"

i was asking why, 'since we were at rep' you were going to move out our defenders?

Thats why I chose to research sailing. though galleys wont get us anywere cus its an "Continental Island"(TM), so its all ocean around us.

having rep gives us happy faces in largest cities, so we no longer need that warrior garrisoned there for happy

Metal casting is still quite a few turns away (30+??). Also, because we don't have copper, it will take longer to build.

duh! i forgot we had it b/c i didnt' see it!! Ha ha...

w/ind., it might not matter as much that we don't have copper, but MC seems to me pretty far away still...yet, its prob still far away for other civs too . . .

probably. We should focus on getting to caravels, and sending two off to get the circumnav, maybe find a new island (if we do, we MUST push to settle) and find contacts for trade).

Has the oracle been built yet?

We gotta get contacts to trade techs cause i suspect the other AI are on one or two other continents together, and that means their tech expansion rate is higher.

Optics: req-Compass & Machinery and machinery requires Metal Casting...i say that we get some worker techs and then head for MC for Colossus & Machinery and Iron Working to get to Compass

if you want to go after the Oracle in order to do the MC slingshot or Machinery sling, i think that's a good idea. however, as someone pointed out, we'd need to make a detour into the religion techs. the question is will researching up to priesthood and then blding the oracle be faster than reseraching the techs on our own?? we *could* beeline to priesthood (though i think it would be close), then backfill the worker techs and from there move on to Compass, Machinery and Optics (for the Holy Caravel TM)

I'm down for the oracle. We either build it (I really think as industrious we might have a chance at prince) and hallelujah or we get a nice cash return that would allow us to run a good number of turns at defecit research.
We really need to have this discussion now though, before you take your set Jerhico. The question is, Do we want to roll 3 deep into the religious tech tree? I think that defecit research rate if we miss the oracle will not make up for the 3 techs worth of time to research Priesthood. That, and except for temples which we really don't need with resources (nor could we use without a religion:( ) and the possibility of :eek: ONE:eek: free tech with the oracle, there is absolutely no immediate benefit for that tech path.
Also, whoever started with mysticism (from the times that Hinduism and Buddha were founded I'm assuming at least 2 civs) almost certainly have priesthood by now. Come to think of it, founding Judaism (monothiesm) requires priesthood, does it not? That means someone has had time to research a fairly expensive tech after priesthood, plus a few turns. For good measure, throw in the fact that they might have marble, which is +100% hammers for the oracle, as opposed to our +50% from industrious.
This is a HUGE risk. In fact scratch my fist sentence :crazyeye: , I vote no on the oracle. The only benefit for going that path, since I'm almost positive we will lose the oracle, is we could maybe found a religion, though it isn't likely since Judaism was born. We'd do better going the civics path for confucian, tao, etc. Honestly though, everyone on the main continent would hate us for a heathen religion if we founded one alone. Seafaring seems like the way to go, and probably the best way to stay caught up in the tech race as well. I would, however hit MC for the cheap industrious forges ASAP, and I think the colossus is well within our grasp. Even if it isn't, at least the required tech is useful to us.
phew

At this point, I don't think the Oracle is worth it. By the time we research Meditation and Priesthood (the shortest path) and build the thing, we could probably be most of the way to Metal Casting anyway. As SkunkDoctor points out, more than one AI is bound to have Priesthood by now, and will probably beat us to it. The only reason that they haven't finished it by now is probably their lack of Marble.

It still might be worth it to follow the religious path, to pick up up Code of Laws/Confuscism (sp?) (we already have Writing), if only for Courthouses, which we'll need to expand beyond 4-5 cities without killing our research.

Nevertheless, once Sailing is in, we probably should start on Metal Casting, maybe detouring to Iron Working if only for the security that we will be able to build *some* military in the future. I can't believe, though, that we would get stuck on an island without copper OR iron, but you never know... (watch, we probably don't have coal, oil or aluminum either!)

If we do find another uninhabited island, we won't be able to settle it until we get Astronomy/Galleons.

I vote no for oracle, its too far away. The player with the latest save should check at the World Wonders if it was built or not.
We should do IW first cus we dont have copper, then MC.
