"Jumping to Prince" SG

Got the save. I will probably switch research away from Astronomy until we discover whether or not there is another island NW of us.

Have we contacted all of the Civs, or is one still missing?

that is all of them....9 total on standard, so there may not have more than 4 or possibly 5 cities still...i just set on astronomy as a placeholder until after some trading so please, feel free to chart a new course over your turns and after some tech trading...i'm anxious to see how our score changes at that point...

End of Turn Summary
Caravel w/Exp is N of big continent; was planning to send E toward new island and to explore the black between.
Worker in Orleans will be done next turn. Might be time to start to finish settling our island.

Here's an overview of our lands:

Our GM is scouting out the big continent and looking for the best city to set up a trade route.
Here's what Alex's land looks like:

Here's the current relations situation:

And the Demographics:

I made Open Border agreements with Peter, Fred and Lizzie. I thought this might increase income from trade, but forgot that need Astronomy for this. Sorry. I hope this wasn't a mistake.

We are the first with Drama. If we want, we can get Music in 12 for free GA. At this point, though, we might want to continue the beeline to Astronomy (in in 43).

And check it out... we're now in 3rd scorewise!

Here's the save:

ouch trading with asoka might have been a mistake. He is the only one who is pleased and everyone else is pissed.

That's a possiblity, but it could be, too, that their hostility stems from the fact that we are #8 powerwise....

"Give me more soldiers noble SGers, that we may sheath our swords in the hearts of our enemies!!"

We need to cancel open borders immediately with everyone. Re-assess who is friendly or please with who, and choose the largest block to associate ourselves with.

However, I do think we did what we had to do to get technology. We had to trade with Osaka.

We must not trade optics.

I WAS RIGHT~! Woohoo! Happy Dance, another continent!

Not worried at all about our power-ranking. We just need navy, that's all.

Okay! I think it is time we start settling our continent...and get a foothold on the next. We're going to need settlers, scientist specialists, et. al. We need to prep for launch! Have our dudes ready to go the moment we get galleons.

To the NEW WORLD!

I'll be ok to jump back in after you Jerhico. Or, if you guys prefer, stick me at the end. I am really pleased with the way this is evolving from our isolated start. We set goals and fulfilled them all, taking advantage especially of our industrious trait. Despite being ass backwards in technology, we accomplished what we were aiming for ( which is about all one can hope with such a crappy start). :goodjob: guys

Also, it seems like the buddhist bloc is the way to go w/this, and it IS too bad about Asoka since he was the only hindu i think

EDIT: ARGajdowkdowkfwokwpek!!!!
My roomate just bought Oblivion, and upgraded my computer with a new graphics card and a half gig of ram! Awesome, I know, but the ATI-Civ thing is not working right now. I know jack about this issue, so I'll get him to work it out when he gets home. Sorry folks, I'd really like to get to know this other continent, but it might have to wait. I will try to play by tomorrow, but if someone else can take it before then feel free. I will report in as soon as I figure out more.

After Astro, i'm thinking move toward Industrialism and Mass Media, aiming for Diplo, but a lot of the hostility on the main continent stems from us trading w/Asoka, even if it's +1 for whatever, -2 for worst enemy trading...

Here's the save...I played 16 to even up the count, go for 15

Pholkhero >> just played
LobsterBoy >> UP NOW
JerichoHill >> on deck

We can take care of that by jumping in on a dogpile war and bribing countries to join us. We're untouchable if we colonize the second island.

I see three city sites on that island. One on the plains east of the flood plains, to get iron and 2 gold. One next to the sheep, and one up top to get the two ocean resources and copper.

Should be a good little continent

Trade-based wonders are important...civil service is important. CoL is important now...We should mostly focus on economic techs and trade back for military techs

JerichoHill said:

we have both of those techs now...

I forgot to check before i left for work this morning, but if Lobster can check, see who the number 1 in pop is for now
