"Jumping to Prince" SG

Nappy, dude! That's why i'm so keen to use him...i like the title "The Man in the Iron Mask".

Wrong era. Nappy was post-Revolution. Perhaps "Return of the Exile" would be more appropriate to commemorate Napaleon's return from exile on the island of Elba leading up to his final defeat at Waterloo.

I also like Frank's idea of trying a Conquest victory with India - no military UU to help us.

I KNOW it was notnapolean, you dolts! :lol:

since nappy is the other french leader, i thought 'twould be fun to presume that he was the true king of france ~ to add a sense of continuity to the two SGs ~ i was planning on inventing a storyline to link them. I see where i threw people off, i think, though:
The overall idea being that Nappy was the man in the mask and has been restored to the throne of France and he's pissed, so hence the conquest victory.
"the overall idea of the SG being that Nappy will be the man in the mask" is what I should've written ~

also, re: our civ ~ in the end, i don't care which we use. as i said, i'd prefer someone who is not often used, but also, as i'd like to play on monarch, i don't want it to be too hard.

Umm.

Well this turnset sucked.

Everything was nice and happy. We got a GE. I sent him to Rheims to hurry along the Statue of Liberty.

I traded Physics to get Communism and enable Permanent Alliances + relations bonus since I had just refusd to give Elizabeth uranium.

The next turn, Monty, who is LANDLOCKED and SURROUNDED by ALLIES declares war on us.

He has successfully pillaged our mines and cottage @ Delphi. I sank his Galleon near our continent. He has done nothing else, because he's fighting 3 other CIVS~!

What a freaking idiot.

Hey, well "common enemy" penalty ~ bright side of life and all

That was the fastest SG turnset ever lol.
0-3: Press Enter.
4: German conquered Monty's city of Tlatelolco.
5: Charters Grocher->Frigate.
6: Enter.
7: Russians conquer Bombai, England conqueres Calixlahuaca.
8-9: Enter.
10: Paris Rifle->Cav. Lyons Frigate, Marsallies Courthouse->Grocher. Avgnon Courthouse->Harbor, Delphi Baracks->Harbor.

9 turns to Radio, then 15 turns to Mass Media.
We should have kept the GE to hurry the UN but nevermind.

Monty == NOOB!

Well, you have to admire Monty for his consistency. And being landlocked, he has no fear of our vast armada of frigates.

As far as the next SG, I'm with Pholk on this one. Monarch is too hard while Prince is too easy for me now. But then, I recall when I felt the same way when I was between Prince and Noble levels. From what I've read, to be successful at Monarch, we'll need to kick up our city specialization and micromangement skills a notch.

All I know is that with this team, the sky's the limit. Not bad for a bunch of random fellows.
Here, here! :goodjob:

My turn set:

Turn 0 - 1813AD: Send Frigate from SW corner to bombard Tlaxcala. Add a Merchant specialist to Chartes. Send Galleon w/2 workers from NewFoundland to Delphi to repair pillaging damage.

Turn 1 - 1814AD: Hit Enter

Turn 2 - 1815AD: Rheims builds Statue of Liberty, starts Rifleman. Reset Rheims to grow. Add another merchant to Chartes, scientists in Besancon and Paris, Engineers everywhere else.

Turn 3 - 1816AD: Paris builds Rifleman, starts Rifleman. Send Galleon and Frigate escort loaded with 3 riflemen to Tlaxcala, may be pillage opportunities.

Turn 4 - 1817AD: Lyons builds Frigate, starts Rifleman. Send Frigate to west coast fleet to fill gaps.

Turn 5 - 1818AD: Orleans builds grocer, starts market. Replace 2 artists there with merchants. 3 Merchants bring us from -7 to +15 @70% research. Frigate discovers Monty's frigate and galleon sitting off the south coast of the main continent near Frankfurt (screenshot 1). They don't move for the rest of this turn set.

Turn 6 - 1819AD: Chartes completes frigate, starts rifleman. Grenoble builds forge, starts Taoist temple.

Turn 7 - 1820AD: Monty sues for peace treaty. No city? No way!

Turn 8 - 1821AD: Unload 3 riflemen near Tlaxcala. Looks like we're too late to do any pillaging.

Turn 9 - 1822AD: Research Radio, start Mass Media (11). Our explorer peeks at Teotihuacan, sees that it's defended with 2 riflemen. 3 riflemen climb hill east of Tlaxcala. It's defended by 3 riflemen and a canon. Liz has cavalry and cannon approaching. The city has no cultural defense for our frigates to bombard. (screenshot 2)

Turn 10 - 1823AD: zzzz

Should we cash-rush the Kremlin -- then the U.N?

good turns :goodjob: all on the Statue ~ I really think we have this game locked at this point. Also, good work on the finances and merchant specialization to get us back in black....FIRE!!...w/positive gpt that is.

I think a bought Kremlin and UN sounds like a perfect plan, it's almost perverted. The quicker, the better. I'm not sure if i've won diplo this early before, so i'm psyched!

May play in a few hours.
