Jungle start

Another option with jungle is to rush for trade. As has been pointed out you don’t need a lot of the base techs with jungle...so get your ITR started early which can catch up on the food

ITR can also be International.

On deity (and i suppose on Immortal too) International Trade Routes give huge amount of science, you can't really use internal (8 :c5food:/:c5production: vs 7:c5science:+5:c5culture:+3:c5gold: while you have 8 :c5science: per turn)

How many techs am I supposed to research before I get access to luxuries?

Gotta agree. I'm so tired of jungle I've tweaked it to be less frequent in my preferred map script. Tradition in jungle is particularly painful. As it is, I agree that jungle isn't worth keeping around, while I like to keep forests for the workshop. Jungle starts defy all conventional civ logic: I mostly don't want workers until god-knows-what-turn because I need so much tech to do things.

Let me start a thread in general balance, it sounds at least worth a discussion.
