Its not as bad as I thought it was going to be or people made it out to be, its just.....really freaking dull....it feels really incomplete to like its in beta or something, everything is just really barren and "lacking" to say the least.....
First of all, you fail.
Yes it's dull.
And its invasive.
Secondly, please don't fail again and fall for EA's 1000 expansion set trick.
Remember to evaluate what you buy, as people once did. See if there is value of what you buy.
I'm sure that a monkey could make a decent game after 1000 random additions.
It's just not worth spending 20 bucks on each of those additions untill they finally get it right.
IMO Spore only gives you 1 game before you realise its all the same, maybe 2 games tops. I bought it in September last year, and still haven't bothered playing far into the space stage. I agree it feels like a test/example/beta/experiment thing, rather than a propoer game.
I will not buy expansions, I'll wait and hope for Spore 2 or somesuch!
It was not as involving as I'd hoped BUT as an occasional game, I still enjoy it. Certainly not as great a long-term game as the Civ series, Spore does amuse. It's just not a game like Civ that I think of when I'm away from it.
IMO Spore provides a truly unique experience, if you put yourself into it... Unfortunately, for me, that only lasted for one particular game, which already began to unravel in the Civ stage and died in the Space stage. I can't say it was worth the £32.99 I paid... Although at least I saved myself from a few weeks of agonising about not owning it, and being part of the 'event'
I would pay five dollars. No joke, and that's not just to be facetious and bag on the4 devs. But for how much I actually got out of it, that's what I would place the value at.
Ehh... Its okay. I play it occasionally. It's a good idea, and I wish they hadn't taken so many concepts out. I wonder what it would be like otherwise...
The game itself isn't bad. It's the hype of what it should've been that made Spore disappointing. You should see Will Wright's video on YouTube. That's what Spore should've been. This version is more realistic, and graphically and gameplay-wise superior than the finished product.
