Just thought I should say - Goodbye.

oh sorry... did not mean to have a contrary opinion, forgot that for all the talk of individuality when one actually does go against the grain, the herd begins to bellow....

People were objecting to your comments not because they went against everyone elses opinion, but because they saw them as being insulting to Ision (who everyone apart from you agrees was a great poster and provider of much in the way of good advice).

I guess that this is exactly what Troytheface means! - he does obviously NOT agree that Ision was such a great poster - and he feels that Ision have let this community down by leaving without finishing his (in my opinion - great) work!
I think Troytheface is entitled to give his opinion - good or bad!

You have read how he spoke about Ision, right?

You would not feel offended if I call you names in a similar way? He got a warning for flaming!

It is not acceptable to flame people in such a manner if you want to give your "opinion". Besides that, I highly disregard people who criticize only in that manner and contribute nothing themselves.

A thousands times thank you to Ision. I dont think I've ever skipped a post by you if I saw it. The contribution you have given to our community is enormous.

He can have his right to freedom of speech as long as he is not insulting or offending anyone. And that was exactly what he did, openly insulting Ision. If he wants to critisize Ision he is welcome. As long as he doesn't insult him.

So long Ision...

I loved reading your reviews...even long after I quite actively playing Civ...

You can not like him...I personally don't care what you think. However, respect become an issue. You don't go to someone's retirement party and suddenly shout "Hey you were a horrible working and I'm glad you're leaving." You can be glad he's leaving, but don't post those comments in a thread like this. Keep them to yourself...or PM him with your distaste. You solve nothing, contribute nothing, and only cause anger by posting comments like that in threads like these.

It would have also helped if your tone and use of words wouldn't have been so strong. Being subtle is a trait one should learn early...

Farewell, Ision. I really liked your reviews, and they definitely improved my gameplay. I'm an old...excuse me, seasoned Avalon Hill gamer myself. The Russian Campaign was my favoite AH wargame. Take care.
I wish you fair winds and following seas.

TRC was one of my favorites too ;) -- Do you still play any A H games?
I play Panzerblitz/PanzerLeader by mail and e-mail, it is slow but still fun. I'm looking forward to this new Russian Campaign :scan: to give
it a try.

My :hatsoff: to Ision. I followed his articles closely and learned much :goodjob: . Thank you sir! You will be missed.

No, I no longer play them. With my job I've moved 5 times in the last 9 years. When my AH games are in a box that still has movers' stickers on from the last three moves, you know I'm not using them. My son is only 4, so he's not ready yet. My wife keeps suggesting that I sell them on Ebay, but I haven't brought myself to that point yet.

I definitely look forward to computerized TRC.

Goodbye Ision - with your help (although you prolly didn't know it ;) ) I moved on from my "Restart ten times over for a good starting spot and then build all wonders" way of playing to a "serious" player.
Now I've mastered Emporer and I guess I owe you a goodbye for all those great hours of playing I would've missed otherwise.

/me relurks :)

I'm a good player now thanks to Ision. Hope he contributes to Civ4.

*Sigh*

I remember my first post, not quite the best, but simmilar to yours, AnsarKing. It's not a good thing to bump a year dead thread.

Exactly wait I was about to say. Sometimes, you just don't see post dates. :(

Although, this would have been faaaaaaaaaaaaar back in the forum, no?

Moderator Action: AnsarKing101 - warned. That was a pointless thread bump. Don't do that again.

I started with AH games such as D-Day, Stalingrad, and Afrika Corps, and then went on to SPI in the 70's. Having a family was not good for board games and the computer and been my theater of war. Maybe I will renew my acquaintence with them in retirement.

Your Civ reviews have helped me tremendously

So Ision was gone? That's what I get for spending all of my time in the stories and tales forum.
