K 4 - Killing spree?

It REALLY pisses me off when the stupid AI signs its own death certificate by playing around in our territory.

I mean, we only have the "**** OFF or Its WAR" option and they always choose war. I bet EVERY Civ will foolishly try this with us!

Stop being sucicidal lemmings! Abe im looking at YOU!!!

I finished my set of turns this Friday afternoon. I've just gotten back from the Paul McCartney concert in Anaheim; that was some fun :D , but it's late now, a very long drive back home, and I'm beat.

Here's a quick recap so the next player (Sealman, I believe) can pick it up:

(500 AD) - civ_steve starts his rule as absolute leader of the Persians.
pre-turn: 2 Iroq workers enter Niagara Falls. Are they stupid or what? Rome lands a Knight near Thebes; Greece makes threatening move. Persia: London falls, 1 immo lost - England is out! (France, our ally against England, goes from Polite to Furious - How Fickle!!) Niagara Falls falls, with no losses!

(510 AD) Rome demands Wine; we send his couriers back in wine bottles - War against Rome is On! His Knight attacks one of our 'peacekeeping' immortals in Egypt, but retreats with 1 hp left. A Roman warrior stacks with Trajan. Persia: kill Roman warrior, and Trajan. Get Egypt (already at war with Rome) to form MPP - we get Invention, 61 gold, and 12 gpt.

(520 AD) A repositioned immo finishes off Roman knight; Roman spearman also bites the dust. No roman forces in sight.

(530 AD) Greece asks to extend Peace treaty, with no offering. Not good enough - send in the immos. Fresh troops start to counter Greek troop movements. Immo stack at Niagara heals up to attack Athens.

(540 AD) Greek forces back off to counter immo stack approaching Athens. Fresh immos stack starts to form, to threaten Sparta.

(550 AD) Iroquios sue for peace - we grant, after getting 32 gold and WM. Roman Leg pops over mountains - gets offed. (No support!!) Immo stack menaces Athens. Immo stack at London, healed, reforms to menace Aztecs at Teotihuican.

(560 AD) Greek field army attempts to relieve Athens; Immo stack takes time to destroy Greek army, 1 Hoplite/ 3 Archers gone, no losses. War is declared against Aztecs.

(570 AD) 3 Aztec Horsemen attack immos, killing 1. 5 remaining immos take Teotihuican (no losses :) ) and then proceed to destroy Aztec horsemen. 7 immo stack reforms outside Athens. Immo scouts begin to converge on Sparta.

I'm going to post this now : part 1

civ_steve's reign, part 2 ...

(580 AD) The order is given - Take Athens. 2 immos fall, but the Greek capital is ours!! Remaining forces fortify, and workers start building roads to connect Athens with Niagara Falls (and eventually, Sparta, and then up to the main Persian lands.)

(590 AD) A Roman Leg, Longbow and Pikeman show up over hills south of NF. The Leg and Longbow are killed, no losses; additional immos are moved towards NF to defend. Sparta is taken - 3 immos lost, however :( . Persia now owns continuous lands connecting to NF, around Egypt. The forces in the Greek/Egypt zone are sufficient; new forces are sent along the North Frontier, towards Russia, America and Zulu.

(600 AD) Too many forces in defense of Northern Front. civ_steve edicts a solution - Destroy Russia. War is declared, and the army that Russia has been using to test our borders (1 spear, 2 archers) is destroyed. Destroyed Roman Pike. Established embassy with China (Beijing is well-developed, library-cathedral-coloseum, 2 wonders, finishing up University, with 5 spears as defense.) China could be future ally against Rome.

(610 AD) Concerned about cultural value, civ_steve edicts the construction of Libraries, at any cost. Several libraries are pop-rushed (1 pop point used, at most) in outlying cities to assure the locals have access to our culture. (Libraries are cheaper than Temples; having 4 luxuries reduces our need for the temples.)

(620 AD) Rome lands a Knight by Galley next to Memphis. No immo is close enough to attack, but Memphis' defense is bolstered by another Pike. A Greek Longbow is destroyed ( ); the Aztec immo force, healed up and advanced into the heart of Aztec lands, takes Tenochtitlan - no losses. The Aztec defense was spent by the initial counter by the Horsemen.

(630 AD) The Roman Knight fails in its attack against Memphis! He retreats with 1 hp, into Egyptian land. Oh-Oh, Teotihuican CF's back to Aztecs - we lose the immo defender  . The northern stack takes Minsk - no losses, and Russia is gone! Somehow, there is a Zulu impi, fortified on the Tundra just north of Minsk. I hope he's enjoying himself! Remaining Northern immos start shift towards Zululand. Healed stack at Athens begins move through Iroquois territory to support Aztec immos.

(640 AD) Hiawatha doesn't appreciate our immos moving through, and declares war. OK, we'll destroy his field army - 1 longbow, 2 pikes, sent out to intercept us! The 1 hp Roman Knight is finished off. Aztec capital, Tlateloco, is captured, with no losses. Northern Force gathers just outside Zululand. Sparta force regroups near last Greek city.

civ_steve hands over reins of power.

Status - at war with Greece, Aztecs, Romans and Iroquois. Allied with Egypt against Rome. Immo stack near Greek city, to finish him off. Immo stack near Zulus - I'd recommend doing in the Zulus (Zimbabwe has Leonardo's workshop), and then concentrate force against Abe. Immos going through Iroquois land, might be able to take their capital. Immos in Aztec land can probably heal up and retake Teo (there should only be 1 spear there, unless they're pop-rushing.) I've reset Persepolis to build Catapults, at rate of 1 per turn - he builds an immo every 2 turns, but loses 10 production while doing so. Perhaps Knights, but a Knight has no better attack than an immortal, so ... your decision.

game is in next post

hey civ steve... just a bit of advice...

when ur posting the save games, use the upload file link at the very bottom of the forum page (under the banner). That way, the forum's is not gathering aot of attachement flie space, but also, sometimes Mr. Killer can't download from them!

Merci! and nice turn btw ! :D

-docceh!

Can't download from the forum attachments that is. IIRC?

Civ on....

Turn 1 - position troops.

2 - Thermopylae captured, lose of 1 imm. GREEKS ARE HISTORY!

3 - Peace w/ Aztecs for Astronomy

4 - Zulu's declare war... Stupid fools. Salamanaca Falls taking 3 immortals with it. Peace w/ Iroq for entire treasury.. Not sure where final city is.

5 - there is the city. stupid me. Nottingham revolts, those traitors will pay. Zimbabw falls, Leonardo's Workshop now in our posession.

6 - Egypt asked to leave our sacrade soil, they declare war. Caravel of 3 immortals set sail for Cumae, another soon to follow.

7 - Ulundi falls, all immortals survive.. one promoted to vet. ZULU'S ARE HISTORY!!

8 - Position troops (Zulu troops moving towards Madras)

9 - Roman attacks on Niagra Falls fail... repeatedly. China joins war against Rome :) Declare war on Aztecs for the hell of it. 4 immortals in area should defeat 2 spearmen in city.

10 - position troops

11 - see above

12 - Egyptians bravely defend Thebes to no avail. Great Wall and city in our hands... many Persian women mourn fallen heros. EGYPTIANS ARE HISTORY!!!!

13 - War declared on India

14 - Madras falls. Victorious troops move towards the boarder w/ France.

15 - Peace made w/ Rome after 6 imortals perish on the mountains near Cumae. Navigation is given in return for peace.

16 - War with Babylon (I have been waiting for this one!) Peace w/ India for their entire treasury. Might want an update on Axtec front. Not good. Those four immortals were defeated. Reinforcements enroute - would make peace but they got nada.

17 - Babylon falls. All attacking immortals survive.

18 - position troops

19 - position troops

20 - peace w/ Babylon for treasury and 2 workers.

____

The last babylon city could have fallen in 2 more turns but I kinda wanted the honor and hope that they are still around when it comes to my turn again, if the game is still going on. Final Aztec city is becoming a pain. I believe 4 more immortals are marching there under go to orders. Two immortal stacks are formed/forming near the Frech boarder waiting word to attack. FRENCH HAVE MUSKETS! Only current state of war is w/ Aztecs.

Here is the saved game, hopefully

docceh - thanks for the tip! I hadn't used the Upload File before, but I'll do that now. (I hadn't attached a file, either :) ; also, I hadn't played with > 8 civs, so I had to look up the SHIFT- RMB to reassign AI leaders in the Foreign
Advisor screen. I'm learning all sorts of new things.) BTW, what does IIRC stand for?

sealman - If the last Babylonian city is still there, I'll leave it for you! 3 civs out, and two more on the ropes - great turn!

cgannoh64 - I believe Conquest and Domination are turned off for this game; at some time we'll have to decide which victory type (UN, cultural, spaceship (histographic, anyone?)) we wish to go for.

I am... I'll grab now and play while my wife is watching Trading Spaces :) (if you are not following another certain thread you may not get the humor.)

 That is the best time to play!

you left me a good number of troops in key positions.
... as did Lt. Killer M for me! Setting up the stacks for the next player is a good team tactic. At this time, only the 2 American cities, along with Lyons and Paris, prevent us from owning the entire Northern 2/3's of our landmass. Those cities are probably defended by Muskets, and lots of them (assuming they have saltpeter.)

Wow! I better not leave again - if I do you'll have the game won

OK, docceh, it's you IIRC (if I recall correctly)......

oh, btw, I know now what caused the troubles with DLs from attachments - but can't fix it :(

but most work now (90% or so)

The French have saltpeter... I saw some muskets running around.

Do we have saltpeter, or the tech necessary to see it? Its hard to tell when not playing, but if we don't we should get it FAST. Its always nice to be equal/advantage in tech in a war.
