Kal-el's Unit Concept Sketches

well...heres the thing- Anubus would not have been the chosen god- he was a GOOD guy- a judger of the dea- it would be a god such as Seth whom would be portrayed...

Oh great modding gods, I, AAminion00, your loyal serveant beseech you. Don't release a foot unit knight of anubis, because then it's not a knight. It's an anubis warrior. There'd be no point to having a knight flavor unit that's not really a knight. Create instead, some basic props for the horse as well, such that the rider will not look like royalty riding a piece of **** animal. Honor my request, and I will sacrifice 50 virgins in your honor.

and I'll offer inscense ;)

Why can't someone use Anubis as their totem and wear his likeness into battle? Why must a warrior stay with Seth?

Another thing why couldn't an unmounted guy be called a knight? Not all knights fought on or even owned horses. If I do make him I don't know if I'll mount him or not but I will still be calling him Knight of Anubis regardless.

Oh, Dom Pedro II, oh Kinboat . . .

you whose reach extends beyond time,
you whose breath gives life to Kal-El's whimsy,
you who can summon knights who have never been,

I hereby pledge that I will acknowledge whatever choice you make as the just one, even as I realize that the wisdom which is the foundation of my plea is clear. Yet, if for some hasty reason your knight mount his steed, then I praise your decision beforehand to accoutre his steed with the decorous heavy armour that would befit the steed of god.:egypt:

well, as you may have noticed, the egyptians were FANATICALLY religious- to portray Anubis as the bringer of death, and destruction is to offend the god himself!

How would wearing an Anubis helmet portray him as a bringer of death? Knights in the Crusades would put a cross on their outfits... Not to declare him as a god of destruction but to signify that they are pledged to God. It's a symbol of their dedication to the god Anubis not a sign that they are going to be killing.

your not a polytheist are you?

in most cases, the portarying of a god on somthing, indicates that god is connected with that object, and what ever is done with it- hence, putting Anubis on armour, used to protect a man who is killing, associates the God with the act of killing

the only non war time connected god that would have been portrayed would have been Ra, for the pharaoh was the sun of Ra on earth, and as such could be associated with the kingdom- and all things needed to defed its borders

Xen as you have stated yourself before, as this is alternate history they can have any helmet the creators want them to have. I personelly love the the Anubis and Horus Helmets, you are having fantasy crests on your Roman helmets as in real history they did not use crests except standard bearers, Legates and Consuls;)

Xen, who is Anubis an why can't knights fight in his name? (let me explain what i mean: pretend that a peaceful group of priests taking care of an important shrine dedicated to iris had to learn some serious martial skills simply as a matter of practicality because the shrine was located in a dangerous place; then can't we imagine that the pharoah may mobilize these priests to defend the nile from invasion, and couldn't we see that it would be considered acceptable that these peaceful men would fight in the name of the goddess whom they honor?

late:thumbsup:

temples didnt have such things- they were ecomnonic giants, but troop makers they were not, besides, they also weilded a great amount of power indipendent of the Pharaoh... enough to where whta you said is not necsissarilly true

beiseds, the point id mute, Egyptian religion wasnt about war- it was about keeping the cosmic balence ;)

I believe Anhur would disagree with that statement!:D

whom is Anhur? (if he is a preist of old, gimme a breake, i;m a Romano-Greek modernized polyhteist, niot an Egyptinan one ;))

Anhur was the Egyptian God of war.

Xen, it seems that Thorgrimm has the one argument that trumps all yours; I'm talking about this issue with you and the crest.

And I must inform you that the Knights of Anubis exist precisely because Agrippa and Augustus failed to take out Anthony and Cleopatra. Under the stewardship of this remarkable power couple, they managed to not only strengthen Egypt, but also to expand its borders, thereby creating an empire that would rival Augustus's (Livia was the real power;)). Based on this reality, we can see how a unique Temple of Anubis may have arisen as a remote sanctuary, as befits the greeter of the dead.

And again I ask, who is Anubis supposed to be?, cause I don't know if anyone really knows, due to all the transformations his reference has undergone. I certainly don't know.

HAHAHA! I am dying to pit fulminata against knights of anubis!!!

Anubis was the deity who weighed the deads soul against a feather if it weighed more the dead was destroyed if the feather weighed more the dead were sent on to paradise. So Anubis was really the Judge of the dead.
