Theories about dog domestication are varied and include symbiosis -- quite seriously, that each species recognized the mutual benefits of hunting together.
Essentially, what we think of as "domestication" of the dog can be seen as keeping a wolf from maturing -- e.g., wolf pups wag their tails whereas adult wolves do not; etc.
It is such an ancient and unique relationship that one Native American mythos (sadly, I cannot recall which tribe or nation) has it that the world split in two, with animals on one side of the divide and humans on the other; at the last possible moment, dogs leapt across the chasm ...
... Somehow I can't imagine elephants doing the same ...

This is meant to be a BIG sucker... in a normal hokulea, the hulls are almost like pontoons.
In these they are separate hulls with storage compartments and crew quarters... this puppy is supposed to rival the Boade in size!
And works well for any NAC as well as Polynesia.

couple of differences. The most important one is that the Spearman is using a light bladed javelin known as an assegai, while the Impi is using a shortened heavy bladed thrusting the spear developed by Shaka known as an i-Klwa.
From a purely asthetic perspective the Spearman is wearing a lion's mane headdress and the Impi is wearing a feathered headdress.
