Kerbal Space Program

I've got a better name for it: Petronas delivery system. Named after the famed towers, of course :)
 
The benefit in KSP is not having your payload snap off the rest of your rocket, or wobbles, or anything else undesirable, plus extra thrust in a new, better aesthetic than asparagus.

How does it accomplish those things?
 
Because your payload is much closer to your CoM, is better supported by twin launchers than by one, etc.
 
Just started a course on rocket design, so far KSP has taught me well :goodjob:
 
I'm giving FAR a second chance. So far, I absolutely love it.
 
I've been experimenting with high altitude planes and the RAPIER engine recently, but I still have not been able to build a SSTO. I do have a pretty cool bent delta-wing fighter, though, that has some ridiculous power.
 
My latest projects involve some truly gigantic rockets for some truly gigantic lifting duties (with some help from Kerbal Joint Reinforcement). I'll post some screens when I can.
 
I'm going to post my 2-stage to orbit plane when I have the rocket sled perfected. Basically, it's a space plane with two rapier engines on top of 5 SRBs to get it off the pad. My test last night worked well on launch except that I had to cut out before finishing a full orbit because I forgot to add extra batteries or solar panels.

Look at her. 3400 metric tons launch mass, 85 tons to LKO, all to do an Apollo mission using RSS (well, not strictly RSS, but the alternate cfg which just rescales the stock planets). It should be able to land Jeb and bill on the Mun, and leave Bob in munar orbit. Pics are attached to the post of the initial launch.

Is that the 6.4x Kerbin or the 10x kerbin?

10x Kerbin. The lift requirements are about the same as IRL though for a couple reasons. First of all, while 10x kerbin spins 4 times faster than IRL earth and gives an additional free 1.2 km/s, the fuel tanks (the empty tanks with no fuel in them) are very heavy compared to real rockets. Secondly, the Mun is closer (110,000 km vs 300,000 km) to Kerbin than the Moon to the earth. Also, the 2nd and 3rd stage have specific impulses of 370 and 390 seconds, respectively. On the Saturn V those stages were Hydrolox, meaning a specific impulse of 455 seconds.
 
Okay, I'm officially only playing KSP when I have access to two mods: the chatterer (to get the Kerbalized Apollo sounds and beeps), and the procedural fairings mod (which is so much easier to use than the other fairings mod).
 
The original kerbal space jam was a better video, but this is definitely a more impressive feat.

and the boom shakalaka is hilarious. Very good voice synchronization.
 
Yes, we now have 3.75m tanks, a separator, an adapter, two 3.75m engine blocks to pick from, heavy-duty solid boosters, and a new 2m part that has two liquid engines and a fuel tank.
