Kerbal Space Program

It won't be on sale for another year and a half, minimum. The paid version of the game, as it stands right now, incomplete, is worth $60 and easily has much more value than any AAA title if you're at all interested in space.

Give the demo a shot.

I wouldn't price it at $60 with what it has now. $40 is what I would price it but I could easily see it going to $60 if it had more star systems (at the very least a galactic sector or even a galaxy) you could visit and maybe utilize FTL travel with.

I agree that KSP is worth the money in its current state - let alone any possible improvement in the future.
As said above: If you are at least a teeny-tiny bit interested in anything space related: GET THIS GAME!

Huh. So the full price on this game will be like $40? I thought it was an indie title and would price more around $20 tops. I'll just wait for one of those 50-75% off summer/christmas sales anyway. It looks really cool but I'm not that interested in pre-purchasing.
It will never be as cheap as it is now and you will never get the expansions for free ever like you would if you buy it now.

As everyone has said, if you are even the slightest of interest in space, then you need this game. Cardgame recommended it to me 3 months before I bought it. Those three months are the biggest wasted time of my life...

Still on the fence?

I spent 28 hours on KSP this weekend after buying it Friday. (self.KerbalSpaceProgram)

I love this game, I haven't had this much fun in years. The satisfaction of initially just bringing a rocket into space without blowing up or running out of fuel is huge.
Last night I brought three separate modules into low Kerbal orbit, connected them all and ditched the delivery vehicles in the ocean. (Don't like orbital clutter.)
Yeah, I'm a huge fan already.

I haven't played the game since 0.19 came out

I think it's time to design a new rover mission using the "new parts". Anyone else been playing lately?

Lately I've been building a base on Minmus, though I've had some issues (i.e. explosions) with my launcher on the past couple attempts. The current population at my base is 5. It was 6, until Neilbree Kerman died while jetpacking off a mountain.

Have you docked the different module together while on the surface?

I'd love to but it's hard to play any sort of game when it crashes ad hoc. :(

Yeah, I land the modules separately, and use the rover wheels to move them together to dock. I've currently got a large tanker module preparing to land that has four Rockomax X200-32 tanks which will be useful for refueling interplanetary missions.

I asked because i tried something similar but it was not possible to dock things which were on the surface. However I was using version 0.19 so i suppose thaey have fixed it now. That is great and open the door to some interesting possibilities. :scan:

I tried something very similar myself (it even looks a bit like Chairman Meow's - it's back some pages) and they wouldn't dock with or without the landing legs up. I was using stock parts though and using airplane wheels to roll so it may have thought those count as landing gear.

After trying the demo this weekend I bought the full version this weekend. I love it.
Does anybody know a way to keep a spacecraft pointed in one direction in orbit (e.g. prograde)?
I want to launch a probe with an ion engine, set to accelerate and then continue with a different mission.

You can't do what you want because you can't switch with throttle up, but among the many other functions MechJeb does it can also hold your ship at any attitude.

It's crazy hard when you first learn it but after a while it just becomes routine like returning from moon landings.

Good Lord orbital Rendezvous is difficult!

Anyone managed to pull it off?

It's not really that hard. You shift the orbit with maneuver nodes to make it get as close as possible, then at closest approach you thrust towards -relative velocity, then once relative velocity is 0 you thrust towards the target and when you're as close as possible you thrust towards -relative velocity again and so on and on until you're very close (<100m). At that point turn on RCS and set the docking port as target, use translation to bring yourself in line to it OR rotate both ships so that they face each other and then just thrust forwards with one of them using RCS.

I've even managed to rendezvous in solar orbit and trust me, when your instruments say that you can't get closer than 30km it's very hard to do it!
