King of the World #14: Earth18

Why on earth did you build the UN? The result was a foregone conclusion. You should have gifted MM to someone like JC, let him build the UN, then invade and raze it. End of problem.

Great writing Neal - this is a great series. I like the realization that modern German scholars and researchers could have figured out the existence of the Weltkoeniggeist.

Neal - that was, without a doubt, the best game-report I have had the pleasure to read, both in concept, execution and game-play.

I am sure you are exhausted, and I find it difficult to believe you could top this epic, but I look forward to the next King of the World with a stalkeresque level of anticipation.

So what is the moral of this tale? Temet nosce, temet Qin?

Really REALLY enjoyed this one (I really enjoyed them all but this one gets bells on).

Would you think about re-rolling it and trying to avoid the UN?

re: The U.N.- I think the ending was a foregone conclusion no matter what we did. Even if we gifted Mass Media to, say, Elizabeth or Caesar, Qin already had the tech, and was doubtless building his own version of the United Nations himself. What I did merely hastened the process, and allowed me to build the instrument of my own destruction...

re: KotW #15- As I'm sure you can all imagine, this game was a big one, and what was supposed to be a light, fun little diversion turned into an epic undertaking. So I think I'm gonna take a couple of days off, then post a poll to see what you all want to see next. I have a few ideas percolating, and I'm sure I'll come up with a few more between now and then. So stay tuned.

Wow, building 4 wonders currently with two near completion.

The one that might worry me, however, us the UN. I'm wondering if Qin holds enough sway at this point to get the votes needed for a victory there...

Dang. Thought so.

Would it have been possible to build the UN and then gift the city it was in to another civ? From there, you could invade the city quickly and raze it - no more UN?

Just a great write-up and I'm going to miss not having these to read. Until the next one I hope!

And we were SO close to seeing Catherine in the nude....

That was an awesome game Neal. Can't wait to see what idea you have for the next game. Maybe pop around between the 3 American civs and get each civ strong enough to rule the Euro-Asian civs instead of always playing second fiddle.

To my knowledge you can't raze cities that have yours as the dominant culture. Banzai charging a Chinese UN (probably with Nukes) is the only solution I can think of. If the point wasn't moot that is :)

You could take a city, use a GE to rushbuild the UN, return it in the peacetalks, then raze it after 10 turns.

Could have built it in a German border city at the end of the turnset, gifted to another civ, and then attack and raze it once you take over as Catherine.

Cheesy methods perhaps, but my main concern is to force this game to play out longer for my own entertainment purposes.

Well... Buffing up China in the early and not giving yourself enough time to organize a victory or destroy Qin was a fairly predictable setup. Was entertaining though thanks to excellent writing and an exciting concept.

And then the obvious question: who's next?

Alas, what a shame it is that you became undone at the hands of the UN... still, a great game.

However, Qin felt his soul split apart as Federick died, for all of the splinters of Neal's soul left this world with him.

All across the world, leaders gasped in pain, heart attacks, strokes, and acne attacks togehter are not a beautiful thing.

After the "Dissapearance of Neal, The blessings of the King of the World" leaders seemed to lose their sparkle, Qin seemed listless as supreme chanclor... only a few seemed unchanged... and they are in a casino in a town named Vagas...

"Cathy... are you still married with C'rus?"

"Of corse not Rosey!"

TO BE CONTINUED
:p

Fantastic game Neal, when's the movie coming out? ;) Anyway I don't think this game should be seen as a loss, the qin round was the best one you played by far(the monty one was great too but he went back to being monty...) thus its only fitting that your best round won the game. I think that you should feel quite heartened that you had such a profound influence on the history of man.

Anyway, i was wondering if it were possible for you to somehow post that movie that you get at the end of the game showing the transition of territories? It would be interesting to see so many cities changing hands in one game (especially in europe, how many civs occupied paris? i lost count...)

Thanks again Neal and take a well deserved break
