Know any good indie or shareware adventure games?

Classical point-n-click:

5 Days a Stranger
7 Days a Sceptic

Those were more survival horror, though, given you could often die and had to run here and there and do stuff, which is pretty much an action sequence inside a point and click adventure :D

(Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight 1- and Sanitarium- had a few such parts too...).

Kyriakos, I've seen the entirety of those games Aleksey mentioned. If you think those are "too actiony", absolutely nothing is going to satisfy you.

I mean it, if you dismiss those two, what you're looking for does not exist.

Okay?

Those aren't in the vein of silent hill at all

They're adventure games

Like you asked for

What are you even thinking?

I always think of the SpaceQuest series as a model of classical point-n-click. And there were quite enough action sequences, as I recall.

Not horror, but good adventure games:

Primordia (depressive and atmospheric)

Deponia (light and humourous)

Kyriakos, just recalled a couple of games which you might like. Both are made by "Ice-Pick Lodge" game studio. Not quite adventure, I would rather classify them as Indie-Survival-Horror-Athmospheric-RPGs

"Pathologic"

Just a couple of weeks ago, an HD-remastered version was released on Steam, with bugfixes and improved English translation. I think I will try it, original game was nice, but a bit buggy.

"The Void"

Beautiful game, with very nice horror and erotic themed art content. But gameplay is kinda stressful sometimes, which is generally a feature of survival games.

Pathologic is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played (never finished it as the PC I played it on could barely run the game). Can't wait to give the remake a try.

You can try original remastered version, in the meantime.

I played a bit yesterday, the graphics improved noticeably. They added hi-res textures, different 3D effects.
The downside of this genre is that the game kind of encourages the style of playing with lots of save-loads.
I usually prefer to avoid excessive reloading saves, but survival games are much less forgiving to mistakes.

It's not point and click, right. The game interface is similar to Gothic RPG (I didn't play Silent Hill so don't know whether it's similar to it).

There are also nice fan-art and screenshots on Steam page:

There's a new AAA gorgeous graphics myst inspired game coming out next year, but I cant remember its name.

The adventure games I own:

Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden
Alan Wake
Almerzone: The Explorer's Legacy
Axel & Pixel
The Book of Unwritten Tales
Brothers - A tale of two sons
Catmouth Island
Dear Esther
Deponia
Gone Home
Hamlet or the last game without MMORPG
Hero of the Kingdom
L.A. Noire (adventure? sort of?)
Leisure Suit Larry Lizards remake
Lost Crown
Master Reboot
Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed something
Residue: Final Cut
To the Moon
King's Quest episode 1 (KQ reboot)

Okay, some of these might not be adventure games per se, my cataloguing work isn't perfect. But a lot of these are indie adventure games. I've only played King's Quest and LSL, so I'm just throwing this out there, maybe there are some gems in my collection

That seems unlikely to be an indie game then, Bhavv.

Since the last time I posted here, I'd now recommend Contradiction (a full-FMV adventure game starring Rupert Booth), The Silent Age (a retro 70s-set time-travel game) and The Adventures of Bertram Fiddle (a hilarious steampunk Victorian-set game).
