What do you think about North Korea and South Korea going to the Olympics as one Korea? Also, in North Korea, for the first time, state television aired a South Korean winning a medal. Does this have any political significance as to the future of the peninsula?

I think it's ridiculous. Anyone who visits Pyongyang and Seoul would describe two different worlds - reality and surreality.

They'd never agree to this.
Plus, this would bring conflict to:
The coaches
The players
The 2 different governments
The fans
The rest of the world

llXerxes, they WENT to the Olympics as Korea, it has already happened.

I wasn't asking if they should, because in this Olympics THEY DID. I was asking people's reactions to this.

Maybe eventually both countries would look like reality (or surreality, which ever one you meant as better)

The ROK (the legitimate Korea) is supposed to be reality, the other surreality. And there's only a chance that this could happen, and one of them would be under Seoul's jurisdiction, and the other, under the thumb of a pot bellied chia-pet head.

I think it's a great idea.

Korea is two countries, but only one nation.

One could say the same about New York and Los Angeles.

And what may he be implying:hmm: ...with that logic Texas and Kansas should go to the Olympics as different, since they both are two different countries or states. :p

I'm just saying that just because two cities are distinctly different doesn't mean they still can't be considered both part of the same nation.

The N Koreans and S Koreans consider themselves as one nation, and had a shared history going back almost 2000 years (longer depending on source). I don't see the need for astonishment...

I'd like to add: They are not only consider themselves as one nation, they are one nation.
As for the rest of us, better to watch our "business" and not stick our noses in other nations esoteric affairs.

Is it any different to England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland going as one nation?
Koreans are one nation, period. I wouldn't like to comment about your question for obvious reasons.

For me they have to go to the Olympics together, and more they should become only one again and finished with the North Korean government. The communist leaders in North Korea have killed thousand of Koreans citizen’s because they don’t agree with then. And every year thousand of people die without food, and that guy(I forget the name) wants to build atomic bomb. And he has a cinema in his maison!!!

Dictator and dictatorship left or right sucks!!!! Democracy and free speech without prejudice rules!!!

I know a few countries that have "killed" more left-wingers indirectly and continue to do so(guess how that could be possible), than the communist leaders in these countries. Evil Communism

People die in the most powerful western countries, too, and guess what? They have nuclear weapons since a few decades, along with the Chemical and Biological Weapons of Mass Destruction.
